That "pill to calm you down" RV would have come from those "livin' in the 70's" Skyhooks boys. Just up your alley Ric - now go and have a "garden fresh salad" to go with that pill - like when did they ever try and sell you a limp two week old one - ala "high grade".

Thor Svenson actually taught at my High School. He had that fake suntan type orangey coloured skin. There was all sorts of talk about what he may have done - nobody I ever knew had any first hand experience though. But he did start up a Board Rididng Club at school and we got to surf for spor...

R squared. Did the ferry trip with a group of mates from Manly too. May have been old enough to drink as had some beers at the Hotel manly beforehand I recall. First movie ever saw was Endless Summer at the Mandala Theatre at Surry Hills (Oxford St) on a wintry Sat arvo session as a 14 year old grom...

Winnebago RV - what with "Respect" and "Mojo" and those other Soul references you should be a Soul Brother instead of a Soul Surfer
Then again "you a whitey" and I hear Soul is an exclusive black man thing.
Fong may be able to lend you some

Ricardo - where is the respect!!??
Walking frames instead of "A" frames, bad backs instead of bad thoughts and "slabs" instead of six packs

Brendo is right - and you won't see Fong or other regular North Coast posters bemoaning a poor autumn.
Perhaps its a Central Coast to Melb issue - as there's been posts from SA and WA that have looked pretty damn fine over that side of continent.

RV (Winnabego man) - no trippy deck sprays for me. I was strictly a Brewsters "Bower Boy" surf wax kid. Though I did nearly burn down my oldies house as a grom when I was melting down some small blocks of old wax. Crazy thing was, I was doing homework and forgot about it on the stove - and I never h...

Yeah - that was it Salty - obviously a salt of the earth man. Don't remember Crystal Tubes with Rod Ball. Another elder of the Nth Steyne set was Doug Bell - he had a logo that was something like Crystal something or another. Hell there were plenty of trippy names around then. The slipcheck stuff go...

Salty, right you are with the Ski tail - in fact I think for a few years there he did some Ski Patrol/Instructor work down at Perisher. His surfing style was very much parallel footed stance - like pre snow board downhill ski style. Those board designs were almost straight rail outline (can't call i...

TC - if its a Rodney Ball its bound to be fairly "unique" like Rod as a character was. He worked at McGrigors for a long long time with Ian Goodacre and Barry King and was a regular Nth Steyne surfer. He also designed some fairly progressive boards at the time - like his single fin "keel". Never rea...

Faaark - is right,. I flew out of the Gold Coast at 8am out over Greenmount Snapper - and there were lines down the bank. Landed in Syd via the Northern Beaches and then out over the top of Voodoo. Classic clean autumn morning all down the east coast - Fong are you sure???. Now office bound in Syd -...

At the recent Noosa Festival of Surfing they actually had a heat/final with six guys including Bongo Perkins, Josh Constable and a couple of well known - dare I say it, Hawaiian watermen who were competing in a Board Paddling event. I watched it on the web - it was pretty small Noosa and crumbly. I ...

MJ - a mate and I were travelling round Aust and hadn't had surf for about 3 months. There was this big festival weekend on there at Pt Douglas (think it was called the Play Day weekend) - plenty of alternative activity going on Anyway - just like you, we saw this little right hander (18 inches) pee...

Coops' fingernails aren't growing, they're just longer as they are being pulled out from hanging/gripping his board as he/it goes over the falls

Would better management have saved any of us in these situations? I mean if you pull through the back of a close out, then you don't get churned - unless you get sucked back and over the falls (Killer bad)  But, if you get out through the back without your board its likely to ricochet ...

Wonder if mouthguards like footballers and helmets will ever be part of the surfers water dress. There are a couple of guys I see regularly with helmets - don't know if it gives them/one more confidence to pull in more etc?
Does anybody on here where one?
