Re: Where did you surf today ?
Well, at least there's no blue bottles in Lemoore. It's virtually unsurfable today down sth. 4 of us went out, all got stung, one wave each, that was it. It was a clusterfcuk of bluebottles. Impossible to dodge them. I've never seen this many on the sth coast. The beaches are blue. https://m.youtub...

Re: Inguinal hernia, anyone had surgery?
In the 1980s/1990s my father in law had open heart surgery 3 times to replace blocked arteries, months of recovery etc Now they just shove stents in to keep the arteries open. He is 84 or thereabouts and they gave him one just last year, overnight stay. I think that was his 3rd or 4th. No way could ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Anyone read 'the critical surf studies reader'? https://www.dukeupress.edu/the-critical-surf-studies-reader The evolution of surfing—from the first forms of wave-riding in Oceania, Africa, and the Americas to the inauguration of surfing as a competitive sport at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics—traverses the...

Re: Kelly's wave.
I've tried to find a similar sport to compare with; it is maybe similar to skaters who stay in the same park their whole lives, but even they have the benefit of different objects and runs etc. Maybe the same half-pipe? . playing a golf course vs a driving range. You are still hitting the golf ball...

Re: Operation
I've seen a lot of of beginner/getting back into it swimmers recommend the 0 - 1650 program http://ruthkazez.com/swimming/ZeroTo1mile.html But you might want to take it a bit easier, maybe double the length of the program (ie week 1 = 1/2 the recommended distance for week 1, week 2 = week 1, week 3 ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
OK, and weight restrictions for surfers too. We want them svelte and glamorous Depends whether you want WSL surfers to be aspirational (svelte and glamorous) or relatable (in which case, we need a fat percentage minimum. Say 22.5%, so the average surfer can relate). I realise that would ends Carrol...

Re: Fiji - Denarau in August
I thought the exchange rate was much closer to 1:1 Me too. I see that kind of money as reasonable. Average daily wage is F$10 - 30 per day, there's room for a gigantic profit on F$250 for half a day; you could pay 20 fijians half their daily wage rate for the easiest job they are ever going to get....
