Re: Get this!

Scary isn't it! Nah, the china thing is a finite resource and the surfboard manufacturer of the future will have a his printer out the back, along with a massive investment in new tech. He will ask if you want a set of boards with similar specs to suit 2' -3' - 4' - 6' waves. The same basic board ta...

Re: Get this!

Current technology with blank suppliers blowing shapes and shapers uploading designs on to a CNC cutting machine will eventually disappear. The printed blank of the future will be 100% accurate to the designers plan, in fact the whole board will be printed with rails, fins, leggy plug, rocker, plan ...

Re: Get this!

Well, they'd best get rid of the AKU machines then. Replication of proven shapes is what is making surfboards better, as is the ability to adjust any aspect of a blank before its made. Almost all shapers now use computerised design tools. The shape of the wave is irrelevant to this argument, its abo...

Re: Get this!

Actually I'm with Roy on this, there is no way a hand shaped fin will be as accurate as a computer generated and printed shape. Even more so if you have to make two side fins, identical but mirrored, and then a centre fin to match foiled evenly both sides. Also, current designs can be scanned and co...

Re: The mongrel

Aren't all cars foreign? I mean, even Holden is gone and it was GMH (yanks) anyway. Oh yeah, my board are all full of faults, but who cares? I really don't surf well enough to feel the difference if there is a 'dip' in the rail or the "tucked under edge is too far back", or "the fins look too far fo...

I once mounted the misses on the front seat of my HR ute, not sure she'd fit on the dashboard though.

Re: The mongrel

The good old mongrel dog...not. It didn't quite work in the way I expected, for numerous reasons. It fell out of the board rack and karate chopped the back of my wife's Peugeot. Then, a few days later it did the same to my Alfa Romeo, WTF! Anyway, I finaly got it into the water and had a surf on it....

Re: Free 3d print finbox templates

Hey sanded, you should note that there are few plastics available for 3d printing that are UV stabilized, be careful what you use. I have been using fin boxes and plugs for a while, which I draw myself. there are also heaps of surf related products on 'thingyverse'
