some of the options to make old school fish more user friendly include this include a little more tail rocker, more pulled in tail, smaller keels or quad!
a quad fish surfs in between a keel fish and a thruster - hey presto - much less transition problems

there's fish and there's fish IMO the old school steve lis type can be cranky to surf and require a nice open wall sort of wave. however a few minor modifications to the planshape and rocker and its a new ballgame and widens the range of conditions FUN FUN FUN i wouldn't go so far to say they ruin y...

it's no coincidence IMO that most guys i know around mid thirties and older who still surf at a reasonable level on shortboards practise some form of yoga!
