Re: Legalities ?
It's and interesting point that has been raised... Someone can choose not to where a leggie, choose to paddle into a crowded area, and choose to do this when the waves are closing out so the likely hood of loosing the board is high, but if someone else got hurt or board was dinged the guy who cause...

... But pretty much any part of the wave is great... except for the fat bits ... a wave's like a chick, and any fat bits aint no good! ... too funny and too true  Too much of the same thing gets boring, even barrels  I like waves that have a few different sections. Certainly l...

I do like it here. I like the people who can have a laugh at themselves, effectively stripping their ego. Looking in the mirror and stripping the muscular persona to reveal a slightly pudgey and fragile ego? Isn't that the purpose of forums? One person's shits another's comedy. Pretty much a ...

It's the clubs and hotels that need to step up and take responsibility for keeping safe the people whose intoxication they quite happily make money out of. If that means paying decent money so they don't get monkeys on on the dor, then that's the price of being in business. There might need to new ...

Grazza, I am not an admitted practitioner but have legal qualifications and have general knowledge of the law in this area. ... The legal situation makes it even worse. Most bouncers are not employed by the venues directly but through security contractors. They do this partly because when you contra...

Good to hear Sammy is doing much better. I am glad to hear from KK that there is a wide number of decent and responsible bouncers that want to do the right thing. I've seen both kinds but it is the bad ones unfortunately that stand out. The good ones just seem to go unnoticed, probably as KK suggest...

I'd hate to be the first surfer who so much as looks like he is about to drop in on you.... I couldn't think of a better time when you'd have a better chance of getting away with it    that's probably the perfect "welcome back" that I'm sure some of Nick's good friends will deliver p...

Get a mountain bike (a proper one, not a K-Mart special), good for balance and fitness, a whole lot of fun too, and will keep you in shape for your week (per year?) of surfing.Lucky Al wrote:Now that I live far from the sea and the foreseeable future promises me at the most a week of surfing, ....

pot is worse for the mind. alcohol is worse for the body That is probably a good way to put it but chronic abuse of both will lead to both mental and physical problems. My own personal observation is that reformed pot smokers seem to be better off than reformed alcoholics. This leads to another asp...

So true! now if you invented it Slowman, show us some HTML genius! I didn't invent it and I don't think the internet is even patented as it was a collaborative academic effort mostly. Anyway HTML is not where the genius lies really, it is only an adaptation of GML, which is a general markup languag...

Doesn't strike me that you could properly refer to either substance as "evil", surely the evil is in the thoughts and actions of the user. I guess that's the point I'm making about labels and language. I'm sure it's all very personal but I've found that after a youth and early adulthood of what I c...

Oh, FFS! Lighten up of course dope will blunt your short term memory but so what? I still remember when I smoked excessively and people used to ask if I'd had good waves yesterday etc. and I couldn't remember. I used to say then "ask me next week, when I'll remember". Sure grass is no good if you ar...

I only have a couple of boards that I use (actually have to sell the others) and I find by changing fins to suit the conditions you can make them more versatile. I have a Webber Afterburner and it can surf from 1' to 6' no problem but I use about 3 different sets. For really small waves, I use the C...

Perhaps I'm not making it clear enough. In the final analysis, the only thing worth judging at these events is wave selection and wave-riding performance. Ski assist helps this happen more efficiently and thus helps everyone, surfers, judges and spectators. jeez why am I even arguing this, it's not...
