Re: Scotland

I lived up there for a few years, the inner hebrides (e.g. Mull, jura, skye etc) are pretty protected, Tiree has good waves and is popular with surfing and windsurfing crew. The outer heb's (i.e. Harris and Lewis) are pretty epic, good beachies and reefs you can catch a ferry from Skye to Harris and...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more

I roughed out a new shape last week and tinkered with it a bit on the weekend, just need to finish the bottom contours and roll the rails. The outline is based on a tomo evo with a different take on the tail (still have to cut in an angled swallow).

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more

That board is currently unfinished I am rushing to get it done by Friday so I can take it away for a week camping on North Straddie. The outline is based on a template I took from Mactavish Tracker and I changed the tail to a rounded pin, it is pretty flat rockered as it is from a Burford 7'0" Don B...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more

cheers for posting the pictures up, there is a fair bit of interest in shaping from people i surf with but not a lot really do get into it. I see it as an integral part of my surfing experience, I just wish I had a bit more time and funds to feed the addiction.

Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over

I have had a few surfs on it now and I have had a few mixed results a couple of sessions it felt good and others I struggled to turn it well. It paddles well and goes fast down the line as you would expect, but I am still getting the hang of turning it. I have really only surfed it in peaky beachies...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

It seems to be a bit of a pressure point when getting...

Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over

I finally finished a Bonzer I have been working on over the past few months, the blank was cut by a friend on a machine, I did the rest. The other board is completely handshaped and glassed.

Re: bonzers.....the quad fad is over

picked up a bonzer three from my brother recently. It was shaped by Thomas Bexon, I have had it stashed away and had not surfed until Friday, saturday and sunday. I was stoked on how it went in waist to overhead beachies, it is 5'8"
