Nick (or anyone else), what is the internal construction ofthe Firewire board? From what I gathered it is EPS foam covered by harder foam and what they call "sandwich" (Tuflite-like?) "composite" (what does that mean really?) construction. I wasnt able to see a cross section of a board so I am curi...

andycumo, latest entry in the Feeble Computer Tough Guy Open. On at South Palm Beach this weekend. Entries all done anonymously. Book your tickets now to save disappointment. That said, and I love her dearly, but Ms Beachley has not ridden a 50 foot wave at Outer Log Cabins, though whoever reported ...

^^go kk  ^^ The Dooma-vs-TC semifinal at the Coke Classic in 1990. A most interesting moment in pro surfing history. Surf really good around 4' and offshore. Tom's got Damien outsurfed but Damien's got priority. Dooma wanders close to the beach in a blocking move -- if Tom takes off on a wave a...

Does anyone know where he is living now??? Dont see him at South Whaley anymore. Pottz is the S**T. Top five all time in the modern day imo. Partly because he's always been an inspiration to surf with. I reckon you can draw a lot of the best of today's surfing back to his influence on guys like Sla...

OK one at a time you bastards, munchy, good reporting and excellent photography has been a consistent (if sometimes just occasional) part of surf magazines for over 30 years both here and in the USA. Yes there is much crap in 'em, but... Surf mags have helped to explain the sport in sooo many ways, ...

The darkness eh?? Hark! Is that the patronising tone, albeit faint, of the fortunate? Fortunate enough to indulge oneself in a career that, directly or indirectly, revolves around riding waves? Don't get snappy with me, you old bsatard... "Indulge", indeed. I took some entirely irrational career ri...

Older surfers who whine about the way things are today are almost always expressing sadness about their own departing youth. Yes it was better then -- or it seemed so -- for YOU. Newcomers to the sport are today feeling very similarly about surfing as you once felt. They will almost certainly feel a...

^^what you're noticing there lithium is that a surfer's style -- even a very good surfer's style -- continues to develop for many years. Physical strength has its limits and they're reached early in your life. Style development can continue well past this point.

Another tick for Style I reckon.

Like salty said...what you all are calling "power" -- ie the ability to hold a rail square in a turn -- derives from what you all are calling "style" -- accurate rendering of technique. Physical strength is a thing apart from the ability to apply it. Much more important is your own personal strength...

Have a fun time -- I hope you all get some waves.

I do not think the media beats up depression as a subject, nor does it encourage people to dash off to the doctor and ask for pills etc. I can't say I've ever read anything about depression that would cause anyone to want to claim it as theirs. It is an extremely non-glamorous thing, and depressed p...

^^Billabong poster. The shot was epic: Joe at inside Sunset going full bore across the gut of that beastly wave.

I tried to get hold of it (the pic) a while back and the Bong crew broken heartedly told me they'd lost the slide. Ah well.

Rockin Ron I'll post a link when they get it up.
