Re: Teach or enroll my youngfella
Anyone else have experience with this or the surfschool at the bra? Are the coaches good? Well, they may be alright at teaching surfing, but if it's the regular mob then they can't read the surf very well. They're regularly sitting inside the outside bank and getting collected by the sets. I still ...

Re: Clubbies who surf: a conflict of interest?
Was he a young (late 20s?) bloke with blond hair? If so, he's a rolled-gold farkwit, and I'll happily put my name on any letter you write. There's an old bloke who loves to get on the mike and tell people to move, when they're clearly sitting on the edge of the buffer zone and catching waves away fr...

Re: Quikky Pro yo
Still have little interest in airs. Of the heats I've watched, the best wave ridden in the contest was Slater's 7.33 in the quarter final with Josh Kerr. Starting at 54s in this video. http://quiksilverpro.com/videos,Heats%20on%20demand,A15E903B66DF1C6C.en.html#menuGlobal No hand backhand 360, ridic...

sorry to hear about your injury.
Was going to say I feel your pain, but decided against it...
Pretty unfortunate username-injury combination you've got there.

Re: Quikky Pro yo
Had someone do this to me when I was bodysurfing in California. A buddy and I had been catching little peelers, then using the rip to get back out. After about 40 minutes we caught our final waves to the beach, only to have a fat dude on a jetski beach the craft beside us and try and give us a ticke...

Interrupted briefly by an absolute spinky sping spingity boo!!! of a lifeguard. Noone was within cooee of the surfcraft buffer zone, as fo...

Re: Dimple Bottoms ???
why'd you delete the pic, Mark? Pics and discussion about actual surfing might not be too popular on here, but it's not offensive... And what's the idea behind dimple bottoms? It seems to go completely against the principles in concaves/channels, and also looking at the scales on fish they get small...

Re: Jumping from a quad to a thruster
Briathy, if you like the twin, maybe try really small (sidebite) trailers in the quad. Steve, did you check out KS's 5 fin boards? Seems in images like his rail fins are much more parallel to the stringer than most. He's been known to keep the side fins in and change only his back fin dependent on t...

I am delighted to say I have no F'ing idea what that last post means, and hope that never changes. And I agree with your previous post, I didn't spell it out but that was my point. From CW's perspective, the advertising of the commercialisation arm and the surfcam operations seem to have bled into e...

Re: CW+
Actually Don, download speeds are irrelevant for streaming surfcams. It's all about the upload speed of the ADSL1/2+ connection. And as far as I am aware, the USA and Australia are about on par with each other. In order to broadcast HD format you'd need a business grade SHDSL service or fibre, whic...

Looks fun.
As a twinny it'd be a shape you don't see on the racks.

Re: CW+
probably, most people seem to have unlimited download cable broadband, using the same cable as the pay TV.
Maybe they just mean "Higher definition than they used to be"

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Usual disclaimers: Depends on your height, weight, how much you drive with the back foot etc. In my opinion , the domed bottom becomes more responsive and interesting the bigger the wave. In really small waves it can feel sluggish, I'd tend to go towards a board with less nose rocker and a flatter b...

They have traditionally been bankrolled by private funds. The enthusiasm for writing the cheques is waning, from reports, hence the change in business models the last few years.nosedrip wrote:Geez....unless CW is funded somehow

If you're interested in more detail you can look here:

But essentially PP is right, and your observations are on the money, at least for winter.
