Re: apology not accepted ...
after a while 3 mid 20’s boogie boarders paddled out about 50 meters north of me onto another peak and were getting plenty of waves but after about 30 minutes they drifted down to where I was taking off … the three of them then started buzzing around me paddling back and forwards chasing every bump...

Watched Topics and Avatars
Anyone else having these problems. My Avatar disappears periodically - like every few days. When I go into the User Control Panel it tells me I don't have one. I reload it and then a few days or a week or so later it disappears again. Also I have marked all topics to "stop watching" on several occas...

Re: apology not accepted ...
Surfin', you seem to be a man after my own heart. When I lose it, I lose it. And immediately regret it. Then later, when I get a chance to think it through I generally end up at peace with my actions. There are some tools that just deserve it. Have you been called a "grumpy old bugger" yet? I got th...

Re: Salty's Choice Cut Pix (southcoast reefs APR09)
Hey Salty, If you ever want to share your work with the realsurf audience as well, just get in touch and I can give you the necessary specs, etc. I'm intrigued about your technology, have you posted anywhere about the camera etc you're using? -don Salty, ignore the knockers. Don likes 'em. And so d...

Moderators being paid, what'll they think of next. Of course, if they are, Don, please accept my application now. Then watch out BB and Merkin (and any tall poppies out there, too.) And exactly what offence am I being charged with here? You fascist redneck Queensland quasi copper. You were one of J...

Re: Bombora - History of Australian Surfing
Bombora Part One trivia: the racing cars footage was on Seven Mile Beach at Gerroa, NSW south coast, with Coolangatta Mountain in the background. By a twist of history, the mountain would later give its name to the popular surfing area in southern Queensland. Coolangatta, Qld was named after the sh...

Re: Bombora - History of Australian Surfing
. I was also going to congratulate the realsurf correspondents on their balanced and informative feedback in the forum (discounting the several anti-Macka digressions), but in the last couple of pages the thread appears to be diverted into a philosophical analysis of surfing and/or surfers. While p...

Re: Bombora - History of Australian Surfing
Surfin' you took the words right out of my mouth.
I've been back to this topic several times, trying to work out how to say what I was thinking. I no longer have to. Hatchman, I'm retired now but for 20 years before that, every word you wrote related to me as well.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
It's still happening up here and the forecast strong SE winds haven't eventuated. I think the rain is too heavy to let any wind through. I'm watching my rain guage which I emptied 40 minutes ago. It's just hit the 1" mark again. That's 30 mm to you youngies. Tiger are you OK up there, or have you b...

Re: Bombora - History of Australian Surfing
I could have heard a bit more from Bob McTavish. His surf stoke was infectious. Wayne Lynch would be worth listening to at greater length too. Poor old Peter Drouyn missed out on his place in OZ surf history again  Surely Westerly would have given a broader perspective to the show. Is it true...

Re: Why we surf - an attempt to articulate it in depth
I doubt ego has much to do with it when you start out. Maybe more about sharing with your mates. I probably started, looking for social acceptance (very shy). I think the longer you do it the more the enjoyment comes into it. And there's no doubt getting a hoot or a compliment from others in the sur...

Re: Bombora - History of Australian Surfing
Happened to be in Noosa on the 27th of last month, and the morning after the first Bombora, overheard a couple of codgers having a yarn in the carpark at First Point, about Bob stowing away.... was that you TrevG?? I'm a codger as well, and have pretty much seen most of the old Bombora footage thro...

Two things i'd like to say. This accident and the other similar one documented (cheater 5 ? puleeeease ) that's exactly what it was, Dino - crouched down on his back leg with the other forward and over the nose - my point being, he was not in a position to take evasive action, the kid was - which d...

Hey Fong. They've featured your beach in the SC Daily today. Double page spread. We've got oil down here, too. It's the first time it's come into Moffs but it's all over the rocks and long brown scummy lines floating in the line up and across the bay    And one of these to...
