Re: Shortboard Hydrofoils
I suppose it's the reason why we all drive different cars, it's something different, or becuase it's faster than a standard surfboard can go, its new, it's a new skill to learn. The slicing thru the water is accentuated because the foil doesn't jump and chatter it's really slicing, like a huge under...

They've got Kite foils, SUP foils and paddle-in shortboard foils now, it's just expanding into all sorts of surfcraft.

Re: FCS I still patent protected?
Im sure FCS I is out of patent date, you get about 20 years and then it's goes public. FCS had a court battle with another fin company who argued that if only FCS could make fins for their system then only one company should be able to make tyres for cars. Anyhow, it's all moot becuase with eBay you...

MrMik, that board is likely from the early 70's when Boards went down to sub 5 ft, S- deck, knifes rails esp around the tail. Often with very upright single fins. And funky Lime green rails. Shane did a great run of those boards that were sold in an old retail chain called Waltons, they did a 24 hr ...

Re: Scanned computer cuts
Thanks Kayu, you always know the right people in Australia. I've heard of the KKL business but it's a matter of checking if they actually know their stuff. I've been through 3 companies here in Sydney who said they knew.... But they didn't. Said they could.... But they couldn't. Said it would...

Short fin revision.
I bought a new set of fins but these short ones don't have the same drive through the kick as the long ones. So I'm going to put another surface over the top of the blade to double the area. image.jpg Probably only an inch above the main blade but it will double the area and having the two blades cl...

Re: Scanning an original board for CNC cutting.
Thanks for your reply Digger ! Further investigation reveals someone in Sydney's west will scan for $500 and then someone else in Byron and then it's over to the U.S. Kinda lame considering that scanning is going to be the best technique for getting the plotting correct the first time. I recently sp...

Scanning an original board for CNC cutting.
In the U.S you can find companies who can scan a shape with a " laser"
And then cut it.
Apart from going to the U.S. for a board, is there any company in Australia that does scan and cut ?

Hi guys,I think at last count there were 6 computer shaping companies on Sydney's Northern
Beaches, but are there any companies in Australia that can actually 3-D SCAN a 3-D shape and get it right the first time ??

Re: The Finless Beast - R&D Log
I'm putting the first set into a bodyboard just to make sure of the positioning, but if that goes well I can supply some to you. You'll have to supply your own board tho. They perform more like 'gills' with water flowing thru them.Brett.

The clear mat is a blast, you're flying 5 inches above the water, it's a real spin out ! You're welcome to give it a go.
