Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I am not sure if its the heat or endless run of 1ft northerly wind swell but i ve been wondering how a little astron zot... say 5"5 - 5"8 would go in these small waves. Plenty of foam to get in early. My reservations are they are thick, not sure if you can bury a 3 inch thick rail and they re a sing...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

[quote="Cuttlefish"]Got a link for them? I called the McCoy (outlet) shop in Byron today to quizz them about what they had in my size range since they've got a sale on. The vultures have already picked the meat off the bones and so bugger all left. There was indeed a splinter available. I'm interest...

Re: Injuries

Fractured 5th metatarsal....good news is no ligament or tendon damage and the doc reckons its a good fracture. So i am hoping for 14 more days in a boot....but expecting 21. I only did it 4 days ago and i am just frothing to get the boot off, ditch the crutches and go surfing. I suppose if you could...

Re: Peniche

How on earth did Julian get that score for his final wave.... It was scripted drama! Course he was gonna get the score, wasn't it great to see the Medina entourage throwing a tanty? Pure drama! I think that Medina might be better off ditching the family not sure if they re gonna help him in years t...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

It's all good Damo - Sounds like you're having fun on that 7'0 surftech. If I snap / destroy or just wear out that Zot then I'll get a board designed as a quad from the ground up, probably an NPJ Quartet. This is a vid that was posted on MagicSeaweed - Ian Brown on Nuggets in Indo. http://youtu.be/...

Re: Peniche

It looks like a now or never moment for Joel. I hope that he wins the event and a world title, his positioning and style are beautiful to watch (and he's Australian of course!). If it doesnt happen this year, the Medina/Jon Jon/Andino youth train could push through and change the guard in the next 1...

Re: Modern Planing Hulls

Hi pirate, i saw one of your boards on this site, looks awesome you made it right? What dims is your 5"2? Sounds like it covers 95% of east coast surf!

in your opinion how important is it to go super short and a little under volume with these boards.

Cheers

That link is classic 'who do they think they are, the bloody fools' Ironic that a few articles above it, Derek Hynd is extolling the virtues of customising your own equipment.... Nicely put :D i think that "poor deluded ignorant fools" is a bit harsh, i hope geoff stumbles across this...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

The zot looks nice with the dvs fins :D i would think that these would be the ideal fin for your board. Please Keep us updated with your ride reports....and if you re ever up this way to demo the cork dynacore let me know, i d love to have a fondle of your zot >><< Glam, nice work those MOTE mr free...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Hey morgan, the dynacore technology is the best eps board that i ve ridden. It has great flex/pop that you can actually feel when driving through a turn. It is 10-15% more buoyant than a pu board and tougher. Dave has some nice shapes including the Mcbean model which has mccoy nugget genetics. He h...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Nicely put Glamarama, I got one for my son to learn on, and I'll always recommend them for a beginner because they have the float, but it's not a board you want to ditch once you've got the basics. JaM - how do you find the diverse? They're offering interesting looking craft and constantly evolving...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I like the look of the zot and some of geoffs ideas but having ridden a single fin nugget i found that the design theory didnt consistently translate to my reality.....which happens when you experiment with different designs of course. didnt look well ridden at all to me..............when i got it....

Re: twin fins....the board time forgot

I chatted to martin wright the other day at d'bah and he had his tried and trusted twinne under his arm. Looks pretty similiar to an MR super twin but with a wider nose template. He s been riding them for an age and reckons they really get up and go in small waves, that they move more freely in slow...
