Re: Age, diet, type 2 diabetes and you.

This 5:2 business ...... Is it preferable to: - group the 2 "starvation days" together , -split them into a routine eg. Monday and Thursday or Tuesday an Thursday , or - randomly throw the starvation days around ( averaging 5:2 over a month ) to keep the body guessing ? No its definitely advised to...

Well at the risk of enflaming some people around the joint/joints.
5:2 works very well particularly if you aren't ridiculous about it.

You can talk about prehistoric diets but one reality is that people didn't eat exactly the same quantity of food seven days a week 52 weeks a year.

A lot of the fishy quad type softies seem to go much better.
The design lends itself to this really I guess.

Spork I don't know what the kids are like up your way but down here in the big cities there are more than enough self assertive opinionated teenagers. Didn't you see what happened to Abbott when he bailed up a bus load of Year 9 students on an excursion to Canberra recently?

Re: Age, diet, type 2 diabetes and you.

Due to hereditary factors I've been on blood pressure and cholesterol tablets for 10 years or something now. Part of that is getting biannual blood tests. They also check blood sugar and psi or whatever you're prostate thingo is. As far as 5:2 goes I usually have a bowl of porridge with yoghurt and ...

Re: Ask Carroll

Mate of mine came back from OS last year. Moved into his apartment he had been renting out while he was away and walked straight into this very situation. Some owners had purchased a couple of flats in the block and had begun renting them out as B&Bs at a hefty price. Other owners didn't like it so ...

Re: Softboard for beginners - Softline vs other? what to cho

Tend to agree with ctd. Just be careful you aren't buying an old gun from someone's trip to Indo 15 years ago. A 7'6" board for example could be as thin and bendy as a potato chip and need a really advanced surfer to ride it in solid surf. I see guys with boards like this all the time at Bondi. Usua...

How's your appreciation of Bronnie Bishop fairing since she has taken to sitting like a buzzard with a beehive in the speakers chair?

How did your bum tests go?

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Yeah I hate going into surf shops. It's okay if I can sneak in and look at the boards but unless I'm buying wax or leggies or something it's a rare day I get any good advice. Nth side surf shops are definitely better. Most east side ones assume if your older you are either a kook who has just got of...

Re: Age, diet, type 2 diabetes and you.

I've usually had elevated blood sugar levels but since I've been doing the 5:2 thing the levels have stabilised to a normal level. This is one of the main supposed benefits of the regime. It's like giving your metabolism a kick up the arse and reminding it of what it's supposed to function like. As ...

Re: Age, diet, type 2 diabetes and you.

Good stuff mention however I've lost over 10 kilos in a year by calorie restrictions 2 times a week and have significantly lowered my blood insulin levels and cholesterol and blood pressure in the process. This is with moderate exercise. One thing with diabetes that's always puzzled me is what the a...

Good on you stan for getting on to realsurf for advice. Not only will you get advice on soft boards but you will get advice on things to do and avoid doing in the surf to make your progression a lot less painless. If only more learners sort advice before diving into the middle of the crazy zoo that ...

Re: Bali for beginners and intermediate

Interesting there otway but I always wonder about the difference between a beginners wave and the other sort particularly in Indo. The question remains is it good? You know you might have an easy wave that breaks for 20 metres and that a beginners wave or one that breaks for 150 metres and you can w...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I only vaguely knew that Bondi existed when I was 16.
However when you are at the beach after a surf and the weather is warm, crowds aren't there and as darkness falls you have that little sense that the rest of the world is whirling away somewhere else. It's magic.

Reluctantly went for a late paddle. Water beautiful. Got a little ripper across the inside. Walking around as night fell up the Nth End I felt like I was 16 again.
