Seems to me the type of surf determines who gets the best of it. Sure mals can pick up a wave early, but boogers can pick it up a lot later - and plenty of the ones I surf with can get up a pretty good pace paddling, especially with the help of their fins. Mals and lids seem to share pretty well out...
