Re: If you could only have one surfboard, what would it be
MP, I noticed that Aipa you are restoring is quite similar. I had a G&S with a similar planshape in the '70's, I think shaped by George Wales and called "The Blade". It had a tiny concave feeding out under the stinger ( I think that's what he called it ). I remember really liking it but I switched t...

Re: If you could only have one surfboard, what would it be
I'd rather have the best board for the best days than the best board for the average to shit days even though you get more of those type conditions...........
That's the real dilemma here eh?
Simon gets a few mentions.

Re: Why did I let this happen to me?
I'm 6'1" and played footy in my 20's at 95kg. I'm now fifty and still 95kg, but they're a whole lot different to the old kg's. I reckon I should be about 85 - 90 but it just won't happen for me. I don't think a recent addiction to those bloody caffeine sports drinks is helping any.

C'mon Nick, none of us do but I was kind of waiting for some input from both your good self and Mark Pridmore on this. What would you choose for both what you were riding in Hawaii and what was on offer at Newport this past week. Simple!Nick Carroll wrote:I don't want to live in Little's evil one-board-only nation.

Re: Thieving SCUM
Mark, this should happen more often, alerting good folks about things like this I mean. I hate thieves with a passion and I'm on my way up the coast shortly. If I spot that board I'm only too happy to sneak go the perp from behind and give him exactly whay he deserves. These pricks are in the vast m...

Re: If you could only have one surfboard, what would it be
Wow, already such a wide variance. The reason I'm curious is all the talk in these forums lately re Kelly's board at pipe, Mick's this one, Taj's that one....it will be interesting to see how wide preferences actually are in the real surfing world. I've been having a great time on a Webber Minifish ...

If you could only have one surfboard, what would it be
Everyone in these forums seems to own a dozen surfboards each. I only own three, and 80% of the time I ride the same board. Surfing the Northern Beaches, I reckon I could happily exist with just the one board and just hang on a bit tighter on the 10 - 12 big days we get every year. I know it's fun t...

Re: you want me to pay for what?
I'd like a trip to Indo, so I'm going to ask for donations and the more donations I get the more I'll post on these forums. How's that sound? I'll paddle like a shortboard and turn like a longboard....

Re: Kelly Slater's Wizard's Sleeve (and the like)
Has anyone ever ridden an Al Merrick that they liked? The only person I've ever heard say anything good about a CI surfboard is Kelly, and his favourite ever was shaped by Simon with a CI label....

Re: Kelly Slater's Wizard's Sleeve (and the like)
I think you're right, Captain but I think I'm liking that sensation of riding a bit high. I'm 50 as well, so I really appreciate the float. I rode it off the pipe at Collaroy in about 4 ft clean at breakneck speed and I surfed a pretty full Palmy today and just floated it 'round but I'll probably be...

Re: Kelly Slater's Wizard's Sleeve (and the like)
Mine's 6'3". I'm 6'1" and 95 kg and it floats me like a cork. I could have gone down to the 6' but I don't know if that would've gone any better for me. I usually ride a Simon TPF3 at 6'8" in the small stuff and I was happy with it but the Minifish is a flying machine in comparison.

Re: Kelly Slater's Wizard's Sleeve (and the like)
My DOB is catching up with me so lately I've been trying a few different fishes and pod types designed to help the lazy/ageing paddler. I didn't like any and I don't have enough time to adjust my 50 y.o style to suit. Then I jumped on a Webber Minifish and all the lights came back on. For Sydney sur...
