Re: Ask Carroll
I've been on a bit of a diet myself, more fruit and veg less junk. Trouble is now it takes between 3 and 5 flushes to get rid of a decent crap. It's like I've been eating ESP foam. Looking after my brothers toddler the other night and she's fished a floater out of the bowl in between flushes. I thin...

Re: Ask Carroll
as i am striving for as much authenticity as humanly possible our uniform will be shirtless, stubbies and socks and thongs. all you're required to bring are your own vitamin C tablets, i will be supplying the rest. The 78 Falcon should be easy enough to source but where are you going to get the Stu...

Re: Ask Carroll
Nick, I'd like to discover a "superfood" in order to make a fortune from flavoursome beer drinking, legrope shunning hipsters. If I can find something edible from deep in an impenetrable jungle in either Africa or South America with an unpronounceable name that is spelt completely differently to the...

Nick, I'm making a not too outrageous prediction.......Daniel Thomson will be (almost) as influential as Simon Anderson.

Re: Ask Carroll
Nick, You and your brother are fairly similar physically and I'm guessing similar upbringing/nurturing childhood by the sea. Both top echelon competitive surfers. Can you put your finger on what makes a world champion?

Re: Volume
Volume can be a reasonable guide as to a boards particular personality in that if you have two boards of similar dimensions and shape it will give you some sort of idea of rails, tail, nose, even rocker if the shaper has any idea at all. If you have a 6'0" x 19 rounded pin @ 28 litres or a 6'0" x 20...

Re: Ask Carroll
Hey Nick, a few years ago I asked " if you could only have one board what would it be?" I know at the time you didn't want to live in that world but I've just bought myself a Nano and I've read a few of your posts mentioning same. Are we getting closer?

Re: Ask Carroll
There will never be another world champ from Sydney. Sydney surf is shit. If you're born in Sydney and move somewhere else before you're seven it doesn't count. You need quality waves on a regular basis and that ain't happenin' here.

Re: new short board for big...old...guy...
I'm 55, 6'1" and 95kg although reasonably fit. I've had a 6'6" Firewire Spitfire which is 45 litres and a bit hard to duckdive but right now I wouldn't swap it for anything for Sydney surf. I took it to Bali and it handled solid 4ft there although it's really fast and sometimes a bit hard to keep in...

Re: The national war on bikie gangs
... there's a clear distinction between the sorts of long term pressures exerted over many years to elicit change on behalf of people who have suffered from essentially meaningless social bigotry, and a kneejerk political reaction designed to appeal in the short term to a vaguely fearful electorate...

"Community expectations" are not in any way a reliable gauge of effective justice in any area. They're too shape-shifty. They're based on sand. Today's "community expectations" are tomorrow's nonsense. Laws that deal with serious shit, that put people away for long periods of time, that are pushed ...

Re: Europe - Give us ya best
I was in Switzerland just last year and it's effin' exxy. I mean everything. It's also effin beautiful and the Jungfrau, Interlaken and towns like Brienz on the Briezer Sea etc as mentioned are all they are made out to be. Drove from Italy via the Grimsel Pass..... brilliant. That's all a very nice ...

Re: Europe - Give us ya best
Mate, if you've got a week starting in Koln you won't beat this: Get a car, it's a must. Drive south along the Rhine to Koblenz, which isn't the nicest part of the Rhine but still interesting enough. Takes an hour if you don't stop, but you will. Don't stay in Koblenz but head towards Trier along th...

Re: Can anyone use some balsa
Fong, sorry I haven't been in touch earlier. The Balsa has gone south, missing along with my Hiace van, a Webber MiniFish, a Simon TPF, two wetsuits and other assorted items I still haven't accounted for. Van was pinched from outside a friends house in Drummoyne, Sydney. The Webber had a comic strip...
