Re: The Real Surf Backyarderz ... who are you?

Been a long time since I was in the shed too, but have just finished this one for my youngest. Its a Sweetdumplingbakedcouchponynator... Short (4'10") wide, and a bit of a nod to McCoy with lots of thickness carried through the tail. Hopefully he gets lots of waves on it. http://i239.photobucket.com...

Re: Mini Simmons

Definitely considering another one. I sold mine and went back to using the longboard for little days but am getting a little sick of that (especially lugging the f&*king thing around). I used to see a few in the water, but not so much recently, and haven't seen many for sale. I wonder how many are s...

Re: Fists, waves and sexism in sport

Don't like the image about women's surfing. Alana makes it worse. All time she present everybody her ass. It's okay, when she have a nice ass, but she is not a stripper or somebody like that. She is a female surfer, generally the abilities should be focusing in every sport, doesn't matter the gende...

Re: "More" surfboards board porn!

Hi Mark, I notice most of your Dumplings are now coming out with a pin tail, doubly flyer type setup, where the originals were more a standard squash/rounded square. Can you expand on the idea behind going to a pin? I would have thought more area with the squash wold have been the thing for the litt...

Re: Board for grommet with paddling issues?

Thats a familiar story Scot - the reason we went to a smaller grom-type thruster for my son was because he had progressed pretty quickly over the last 6 months riding my old board, and wanted something that he could duckdive in order to get himself out the back. But then we hit the paddle in issue. ...

Re: Board for grommet with paddling issues?

Thanks guys. He is currently around 35kg, and....tall? (not sure exactly, is the tallest in his class but absolutely stick thin). I expect he'll stay tall & lanky. I'm 6ft & 75kg, I think he'll end up much taller. I have an old Firewire thruster here that is 6'4' x 19 1/2 x 2 5/8. I might stick him ...

Board for grommet with paddling issues?

I am looking for suggestions on a board for my 10 year old son. At the moment he's currently riding a fairly standard grommet thruster (5'11" x 18" x 2" 1/8), and is having a few issues paddling into waves. He's actually a really good surfer once up and riding & goes really well when I push him into...

Re: Ask Carroll

Ok, I've got a question. Nick, in one of your surfline pieces you mentioned Adriano losing the double pump bottom turn - which is definitely true, you could see it at snapper even - and my top-of-the-head impression from the first two comps is that, across the pack, it seems less prevalent than it ...

Re: Ask Carroll

Then a really super fun beachie down past Anglesea, a rip pushing a right sandbar out at an angle with a left rip bowl off the other side, about 3' with some bigger sets and you could get barrelled on the right and smash the left. On one of my awesome MCs, a 5'9" pintail. Was that one a little bit ...

Re: Bells Beach.

Damo car is cool to get a park as long as you go early and leave late OR seeing the missus is not keen get her to drop ya of with the frothing groms and she can go shopping at TQ or drive around picking up buffed young studs OR she could drive Shearer around and get to meet all the heavy hitters. E...

Re: Bells Beach.

have a good trip. are you taking the new(sih) board? i bet your little groms are excited. Yes mate, I will definitely be packing the yellow bananna - all that foam scared me a little in the bigger stuff at first, but I had it out recently in a few big swells down here and absolutely loved the way i...

Re: Bells Beach.

The family and I are heading down to see the comp (two VERY excited little grommets, one wife that is not so...) We are staying on the Anglesea side of Bells - what is the best way to get there on Sat/Sun? I'm assuming taking the car is a no-go, and we'll need to get a shuttle or something down to B...

This is what the likes of Tomo, Diverse, Stretch and others are doing with what has been learned from the mini-simmons fad exactly, there ya go hotcoffee, I share pinhead's opinion, the guys above are who're taking parallel outlines to the next level -- they're looking for what works out of the ide...

Re: Swell drought's about to end

Dead still here till about 2pm. A certain island right had some decent 6 ft sets and some nice walls. Swell was relatively organised, until now. Looking good over the next few days down here. Nice. Was it a little on the 'pink' side? Was lucky to score 4 days last week of clean overhead conditions ...

Those guys did a good job of reporting! Specially the bit where Kelly snaps on the photographer. Telling how stressed he really was...and how many pressures are heaped on him from outside. Except the photo attached to that little bit of 'journalism' was Kelly quite happily waving goodbye to his gir...

Re: Help looking for a new board

I was going to say that you sound like an ideal candidate for a McCoy Nugget. Similar outline to a Mollusc pictured earlier, but with more rcoker - brilliant paddler, very stable, pretty versatile when the waves get better and built to last forever...
