More great info; Brenno thanks for the scoliosis info; unfortunately mine's a tad more than slight: Was told at 14 I had 60-70 per cent chance of being in a wheelchair for rest of life. Surfing saved me!! And thanks for the acupuncture tip; might just try that while I suss out the pilates options in...

Thanks heaps for the replies and advice! Very valuable. So can anyone recommend pilates instructor/classes? I'm in DY. Evening classes?? I'm tall and skinny so no gut to get rid of. My back has been rooted since about 14 when I spent an hour plus five days a week literally on a rack having it strech...

Hiya Family Guy; maybe a rounded nose board tween 7 and 8 foot is a midlength/funboard. So your'e OK on your 6'10   . Four Guys on a Tahitian Atolls trip I did in December were members of the 100 (kg) club and rode roundish nosed boards between 7 and 8 foot and these fellas were very very ...

Hiya Nomad. Costa ain't that much of a shocka (Then again fair enough maybe lots has changed in 10 years). But it looks like Brenno's first trip and Costa IMHO better destination than Chile/Peru for an OS virgin. And no need to lug around a 4/3 steamer/booties/rashie, 2nd steamer or the early sesion...

G'day fella; one word: Go! Spent two months there 10 years ago (bloody hell where'd the decade go??). What to say; Pacific coast is crystal water, dream points and black sand beachies and pretty easy travelling. Caribbean coast far more isolated, far more fickle, very very rainy but when it turns on...

Anyone read more than a paragraph or two in ANY surf media about Occy ditching the older woman who supposedly supported him through the fat couch potato period, only to vanish from the scene after his title, replaced by a far younger gal? Surfers _ even good bloke legends _ self centred? Never. Oz s...

Work mate came back a month or so ago from west side of north island tip with a bloody smug smile on his face. Was taken by a local to a sand bottom point break. He could see the break from a few kays away as they wound their way along the side of a mountain by car to it. He started raving to the lo...

Hiya Chris, in their defence they are pretty gung-ho _ they'd go out in 6ft plus Mex pipe (size starting to have me sitting on the beach, v heavy wave after I'd been living in London 3 yrs  ) but it was at the point up the beach they really got agro. Ability doesn't stop some snakes _ and it d...

Hey Tootr you wouldn't be refering to Israelis would ya? If so yep yep and yep. Reckon they and zillas are equal firsts. I've had the first hand israeli experience in Costa Rica and Mexico and they were shockas but didn't even realise it. Came out after one seession at Mex Pipe where they had given ...

Onya fella

Was out at DY this morn; didn't feel like competing with the pack on the clubhouse lefts and point was pretty packed too so spied a little left rip wedge starting to work next to kiddies and decided on a "bob and grab the odd one" morning while my brother (trying out his brand new custom Miller 6'6"...

Sounds like it will go well on the boys' annual week up the coast surfing points! Hey I have a manly aquarium yarn too: Shouted ex g...

I bought you a present darling

Hiya all, been a lurker for a bit but here's my first post: Mate's birthday last week. Wakes up to find wife grinning. "You're present is in the loungeroom". Once the wrapping paper was off he discovers the present is a Hynd Fish. Hmmmmm. Anyone have any experience with a real old skool style fish? ...
