Re: Ask Carroll
I'd post a pic, but I don't have a palm tree in my backyard. seen the MP double-flyer rounded pintail by Simon Jones? that's a beautiful board. http://www.morningoftheearthsurfboards.com/images/mp-dbar-special-07.jpg Is that a single fin? Umm, I'm a bit more concerned about the dalek in the top righ...

Re: Ask Carroll
Nice boo! Similar outline to my 6'4 single, but mine's got a real 70's beaky nose to get a lot of foam foward, tapering down to modern tail, rails and concaves.

I have two quikky wetsuits in large. I'm 6'0 and 75kg. That model must be in pain.

Re: Box fin with no plate/screw!
Ouch, just noticed the price. 120 bucks for a standard 7inch dolphin fin! FCS says bend over and take it.
Are these made to work in any fin box?

Box fin with no plate/screw!

No explanation on the site.
Maybe spring loaded lugs lock into the slot instead of a screw/plate?
Anyone seen this?

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
I reckon the first one looks better.
I'm very keen to see what the six channel single looks like when complete...and a ride report.
Was hours away from pulling the trigger on a JD single last year - but the mortgage monster, and a new baby sucked away all my spare cash.

Re: What board for small barrelling pointbreak?
How hard is it to get a quartet these days? Hasn't purcho buggered off to Bali? Ive seen a few stock boards in the hipster 'boutiques' down here. $$$$ though. I think you'd be able to order one from him, but have to wait many months till he is back here shaping. A cousin ordered two boards off him ...

Re: What board for small barrelling pointbreak?
Hey Topher, you lurker! Did you end up selling the wombat? I can't remember. I have a 6'3.5 single fin with modern contours. One of my favourites. But on the waves where it is breaking right on the sand I find it hard to get under the lip on takeoff. Hey 'boo. Yep, lurker and proud! Yep, sold it to...

Re: What board for small barrelling pointbreak?
I've got a 5'10 npj quartet and that would go nice, more of an open face kind of board though. I'd take a 6'4 single fin to slide into the waves easy and glide under the lip.
I wouldnt be fussy what I rode in those waves though.

Re: Firewire Sweet Potato - decent for a newb?
I had a few firewires, great feeling lively boards BUT I'm glad I didn't pay the new price for them. Also they all got damaged more than my pu boards and were more expensive to fix. It seemed like an impact that would have caused a dent or minor ding on any other board would crack the outside skin a...

Re: Anyone used a greenough flex fin in longboard/egg ?
Had greenoughs in eggs, short singles and a 6'4 semi gun single. Great fin - but you have to be light on your feet. Think I had a 8 and a 9inch.
Tried one in my jackson mal........not so great. Slippy, no pivot or drive. Stick to a stiffy beerman!

Re: Rescuing people
This is something I'd do. Only had to rescue someone all they needed was a rest while hanging onto my board while we floated into the beach.
Ive often thought about how I'd be unable to help if someone needed cpr etc.

Re: post your modern day sickness
Heres my two modernish boards, both from Mick Mackie. 6'0 x 19 5/8 x 2 1/2 - Stringered EPS/Epoxy. Its got fibreglass JC1 fins in at the moment but I usually surf it with the futures twin/tralier setup (AMT I think). Very lively and fun board. Light and Bloody bullet proof too. 6'2 x 19 1/4 x 2 1/2 ...

Nice, thanks for that.
This DVD is cool. Mostly 70s style boards, not single fin shortys but worth a look.

Re: Bogged 4WD at Dee Why
A few years ago I saw a fairly new 'urban' 4wd stuck up at greenhills. I think the story was that some dude had borrowed his parents car and taken some mates up the beach for the night, but got bogged while the tide was coming in. Luckily a few guys helped push it out. Car got a bit of water in it t...
