Re: Who is Robert Conneeley?

You have to watch that skip, that irony, it delineates the impurity of notional thought - but this is just a surfing forum, shit like that just passes us by. That's why they have banned puns in China. A few double entendres and the place will go to the shitehouse. Connelly seems kind of legendary t...

Re: Medewi in March

Anyone know current gig for surfboards on Bali flights from Sydney?
I'm presuming it hasn't changed since last year.
More concerned about length as in 7'6" or 7' than number of boards.

Re: Ask Carroll

All good. I guess one thing non Sydneysiders find hard to grasp is how separate the other side of the Harbour seems. It's kind of like another city or the white bread twin. Heaps of bankers live over there and yes most people don't like talking about politics in mixed company. The Shire is pretty mu...

Re: Who is Robert Conneeley?

I had one of his hulls. Chines, concaves about 6'6" as I recall. Swapped it for an experimental Sam Egan shape. Good board. Better than the one I swapped it for. No Bondi Connection in those days.

Indeed, but as far as the event goes he still has the edge on both of them. Mick in particular.

Good stuff, hatchie. Haven't hit the Central Coast in ages. Used to be a very regular holiday destination for years and have had some epic surfs up there.

Re: Pipe

Nuh. Since Kelly has surfed resoundingly better at Pipe than the world champ for the last two years I would put my money on him if he's still in the running.

Those Walden Magic boards are about 4" thick. Great when its ankle high. Not so good when its bigger and crunchier.

Re: Ask Carroll

There's already expert advice dished out by Taronga Zoo -where shark attacks are registered- and which is dished out by media after every attack. The following safety points should be considered and may help minimise the risk: Swim at beaches patrolled by Surf Life Savers (they are there to keep an...

Re: Ask Carroll

I put up with it for seven years before I got the first one done. Seven years of paddling pain. To the point I couldn't lift my arm above shoulder height after a big session. I had bone spurs on the AC (like yours), tendons (or ligaments?) rubbing on the spurs and that would cause inflammation and ...

Re: Ask Carroll

Well there's been three sharks off Bondi this week. On a slightly tangential topic to this I find some people's horror at the concept of any tree lopping even when it's undermining the foundations of a building to be a bit twee. That doesn't mean I support hacking trees down for views just sensible ...

Re: Ask Carroll

I should point out at this stage I go blank when the description of wave intervals enters the conversation. It starts to sound like batting averages for cricket or how many under par someone is at golf. Really crap at maths generally and avoid any calculations unless I have to. Answered my question ...
