Re: Bali For Beginners
Wet season Nusa Dua is great for girl friendly accommodation and a variety of waves you can walk to depending on where you stay and if you don't mind walking 30 mins or more. There's a section on the inside of the nusa dua reef that can be beginner friendly. Definitely not Nusa Dusa itself though. T...

Re: Europe surfboard quiver
Cornwall. Small most of the time. Bigger usually comes with wind and cold. Any kind of hypto type intermediate short board will do. Not having a mal will severely limit enjoyment. Buy them there. I'd spend more on wetsuits. Surf can get very good, but not really worth a specific surf trip, too infre...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Well, it was a dream based on a realsurf thread so under my towel was my knob, which was also Nick Carroll, and up in the dark loft were the citizens of realsurf, naked, gibbering, masturbating and flinging faeces at eachother in a scene even Jake and Dinis Chapman would be ashamed of.

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Nick carolls surf shop was a little like a camping and general supplies shop, but there was a loft area that he seemed keen to protect. Despite him being very tall and disinterested it wasn't intimidating though. He was a little nervous if anything. Something in the loft. What?

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Last night I dreamt I was ordering a Byrne TC fish from Nick Carrol in his surf shop. He was extremely tall, and disinterested. I was wearing a towel.
WTF should I do?

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
making me wish i hadn't sold the tc byrne. that shape looked quite lo fi and fish-like when it came out, but compared to todays easier riding shortboards, hyptos etc it looks sleek. i think tuflite may have been closer to getting it right than accepted wisdom suggests...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
the lsd twinny grovels thigh to nipple high very well. anything below that i get the 7ft foamie out. MR style twinny is possibly much more hi performance than standard e suburbs sydney lurching fatness to pointless close out type grovel (I'm including maroubra - it's probably the best in the area bu...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
ah ok, i'll write something sensible. i got the 6'0 LSD twinny. It was about $700 from Surf Culture Bondi Junction as i recall, might even have been $650 - reduced price for some reason, most of their boards are $$$$'s. i'm about 84kg, 43 yrs old and average ability. I got young kids so surf time is...

Re: Ad agency creatives lurve surfing
Newsflash - surfing is marketing. And it's as mainstream as breakfast TV. It's more surprising that the surf brands are so bad at marketing themselves. It's all identical lifestyle fantasy based around barely recognisable sponsored pros. That goes for everything from the the thug life bro deal wanna...

Re: Indo...is it worth it
Petulance - Nusa Dua is hardly a secret spot. There are waves from the main Nusa Dua stretch of reef all the way up past mushroom rock to Sri Lanka ( check a surf guidebook - all are well known ). Mid to high tide and sub 3foot, there's plenty of user friendly surf for intermediates ( not great for ...

Re: Indo...is it worth it
Bronte reef is harder to surf than many intermediate spots in Bali. I recommend Nusa Dua area in wet season for average surfer + wife. Paddling and current aside, Nusa Dua on 2-4 ft days is a relatively easy, fun wave with a fairly benign reef. Totally different in 4ft plus as you will likely encoun...
