Re: Take Away dim-SIM

Beerfan and i will be keen to take it off your hands once it gets to the Illawarra! Looking forward to comparing it to the 5'1 dim-sim. Sounds greedy doesn't it?

Re: Six Ounce Boardstore Closed!?

Lordy - could you imagine if i tried to put a shaping bay in that room?....it's changed a bit since you seen it macca, full on kids room, with my weights jammed in the corner now  The fibreflex is a weird board. So lite, in fact at 6'6 it is still lighter than anything else i have. The benefit...

Re: Six Ounce Boardstore Closed!?

First new board i've had in a while so i didn't cop it too bad and i sold some to get there. But i was in a good place board wise, until the snap....now i'm back a few steps..... No waves, as predicted when you get a new board! Now i'll start thinking of where to go next - Been experimenting on some...

Re: alternative or crazy

I felt up a dharma recently. It was pretty thin for a simmons style board and the glass was super light. It would certainly go well in that quad set-up.

Re: Six Ounce Boardstore Closed!?

Hey Beery - it's a futures set-up and i found that some YUs in front and the V2 QF4s in the back do the trick - but will continue to experiment. Maybe try some sidebites etc? Had this one built stronger than the last, hemp deck and it has a thicker carbon rail. You can feel the extra weight compared...

Re: Six Ounce Boardstore Closed!?

Hey Topher, was in there last Friday picking up a board. It won't be trading as sixounce anymore. Not moving, or closing up. Ring Taylor, he'll fill you in on the story. Some of those mandalas and mccallums are amazing looking boards, i would just need to sell a kidney to fund one....

Re: Improving surf breaks through sand placement

I was a Nulla local once and remember the days when the alley used to pump. Most of the old boys will tell you that the sand mining and dredging has screwed the banks. Cronulla still has its days though, as all beachies do with the right swell, winds, tides etc - but it would be good to get the alle...

Re: Mini Simmons

Cuttle - that is an excellent idea! Can imagine paying off a few boards a year that way. I have a pretty good dim-sim story. The NSW South Coast has been getting some pretty amazing waves over the past few days (and more to come), but the west winds are cold and bloody strong. I hit my local Minnos ...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

I gotta see that movie! i should just roll out the cash and get a copy - worth it? I once saw Mick surfing at the Ulladulla bombie a few years back - man he goes well on a twin fin in the big stuff, so bloody effortless. Mind you he cut his teeth surfing Shark Island and Cronulla Point (when it used...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Hey Beerfan - yeah i snapped my alien at minnos a few weeks back and now have to find some cash to fund a new one - and they ain't cheap, but a very nice board. Am i in absolute transition with surfboards at the moment - the only one staying is the dim-sim, the rest have all left the building and i ...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

Not to hijack, but i bought the richter 2nd hand. 5'6, 18 3/4, 2 1/4. Interesting board thus far. It has both thruster and quad set-up and i use it as a quad with the powerdrive fins that tomo designs. So far i've ridden it in a few conditions. It paddles quite well for such a tiny board, although i...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

I think Akila Aipa does some nice modern twins that Rasta rode for a while - Gary McNeil does some of his boards as performance twins. The only real twin i have is my dim-sim, although i did try the tomo richter i have as a twin. It way too loose and skatey. His V3s look like they'd be a solid twin ...
