Good man Felix - I was just about to make the correction. It was the Manly Stor-a-Board. Slight hijack - they had quite a business where groms and those without cars who lived to far from the beach to carry those big old logs, could store their boards out the back for 20c a week. Bob and his wife I ...

Small chance I may be up the SC on the weekend visiting a mate at Tewantin. Its only 2 hours up the road from the GC - so its a good chance. Did I imagine it or did someone say something about the Markets??? Is that Eumundi - that where my mate has his business- a food concession at the markets. Any...

Yeah - everyboby has a view. I surfed there yesterday twice in drivivng rain and howling offshore Sou Westerly and again this morning. Yeah there were big crowds, but there were also some primo waves. Sweep - horrendous, but it does spead the masses around and as many have said just drift and grab w...

Riccy - what size centre fin? and how far from the tail is the trailing edge of that sucker? Oh and while I'm about it - how far are the trailing edges of the "babies" from the leading or trailing edge of the centre fin. Yeah yeah, I know - questions, questions :? :?

Coops - you know its almost as hard to only get one right, as it is to only get one wrong! :? :)
As TrevG said - it will be 3 weeks before we see some form and 6 weeks for it to be anything like half predictable.

Laz - my understanding is that he is still living very close to the that last section at Lennox. A mate surfs with him, - regular enough and he's still shaping the odd board - mostly of the longer style - but still a nicely crafted craft.

Think I've joined successfully.
Go the Titans - actually they're no.2 team after the Eagles. Never forgot your roots I say.
Fong - you and me can get our Bronco hate flags out together.

Do you mean Tri Fin or "thruster"?? :? :?
Tri Fins were early 70's and pre dated Thrusters - Tony Hardwick and a whole lot of NN crew were ridng Geoff McCoys Tri's I think - could be wrong of course.

Fong - yes that bank is still good. The creek has cut a new channel out close to the rocks rather than the breakwall and a lot of sand has pushed further north. SO yes its probably better now I think that it was. The Fish Fry is an annual thing - or as far as I know fro the last 2-3 years. Plenty of...

Mark - I did get a quick walk/run around the Fish Fry last Sunday at Currumbin. Certainly a large range of boards from both around the country - locally (Nth coast), Victoria and from the USA I think too. I was amazed at some of the old shapes from the late 60s that were the first swallow tails with...

SurfResearch - there are some real classics in that link. Aside from the zippy board through the years and the "handsurfer", that Rob Ball model was really a scaled down version of his stand ups. But there was one guy who surfed his kneeboards at the time - Graeme 'Flip" Wilson. He used to get deepe...

Today was the day - still heaps of sweep but the swell had evened out and picked up a tad and was clean this morning. Snapper right through Rainbow and Greenmount. Tide played a part at different times of the day, but there were plenty of epic waves. Tomorrow - weekend crowds, not that it makes much...

Puurri,

The Greenough Spoon models/types were made by Ron Wade on the Northside out Mona Vale way I think. He had a hiatus of about 15 years (??) across the late 70s. 80's and 90's but I see through advertising he's making Longboards again.

Paipos (or derivatives) were pretty common out Cronulla Pt in that era. They were either marine ply bellyboards and then I recall a few foam/glass models. But again, never saw anybody actually standing up like that though.
Puuri would have had experience of those days I'm sure.

Wind and Sewerage was a tongue in cheek piss take on Wind'nSea. Quite good I thought at the time as surfing the Manly to Q'Cliff stretch was just a shocker in a Southerly with the North Head outfall. Water was oily and smelt fatty. Thor Svenson - and I think this has been touched on (pardon the pun ...

On the Goldy we've had over 400mm in the last 5 days. The Tweed river has burst its banks and Fingal is cut off. The Nerang river is expected to flood and the rivers up to Bris Vegas - the Albert and Logan rivers are expected to peak tonight. All the low level areas of Tallebudgerra are flooded and ...
