Re: Greatest small wave session ever filmed?
Hey Steve, I know you enjoy watching Danes vids he posts up at marinelayer. Check out his new one 'turkey day' and right on the 1:00 minute mark pause it, . . . . . and watch it in the slowest way you can frame by frame staring at the bottom left of screen until around the 1:02 mark. What do YOU se...

Re: Quadfather Project Board....
Sorry about the really dodgy photo guys... I'm a little bored with the lack of technical challange shooting standard surfing photos and was playing around with slower shutter speeds. As a result the image is somewhat over-exposed. Definitely not my best work. Will try and get some more up this even...

Re: Bali, Compulsive disorders and religion
You mean this one? I can't stand hearing the guy talk personally, he has this rather posh chiding tone when he critiques religion. Poor old Ted Haggard though, eventually he couldn't use religion to suppress his needs for crystal meth fired man-love sessions and is now reduced to selling insurance....

[quote="marcus" I think its all well and good to believe in doing nice things for others, but religion uses fear to influence people to do good things. why not just do good things because its what is right?[/quote] Marcus Richard Dawkins has written a book that deals with what you are talking about ...

Re: QUIKSCAT GONE....WTF!!
This is bad news. Keep an eye on the models now for less accuracy, especially long term predictions. The safety factor alone should have been enough to keep this technology in the sky. 5 years till another satellite is launched, if funding is provided  I agree Don WTF? How much would commerci...

^^^ Good call. Bom charts appear to support your hypothesis. Most of the wind looks a little more S/W to me though. S/E component is tight and short in fetch. Here's hoping.

Re: Nicks' New Fat-Bat
I should round out my lil test program... No Nick, realistically it’s kind of meaningless. Your board appraisals are beyond question, but we aren’t all the same, what is a positive for you might just be something for someone else. No one doubts your ability in any area, and in fact that in itself m...

Re: Whats the LONGEST wave you've ridden?
Well... guess I've been unlucky. The unlucky ducky. :?:  Must admit to being somewhat envious of some of the wave lengths on this thread. Not sure about my longest wave but I'm pretty sure it's less than 20 seconds, maybe less than 15 seconds. Had a few long ones at Green Island when the swell ...

Re: Worth a few cents...
BD, you can use the following to check out the way prices have changed. Whack in the price and the year, and it will tell you what it would cost now. http://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/calc.go Actually shows that surfboard prices have increased faster than the index. Not quite that simple though, too...

Re: Worth a few cents...
^^^ Agree with Jim's view. I think well made boards are value for money. Bought my first new board in 1977 for $120 from memory. Not sure about the relative value / inflation but $750 for a new board now, 32 years later, appears great value. Any economists out there? I also purchased a Jim Banks MK1...

Re: What makes a swell inconsistant?
yeah now that you mention it that does make sense for the east coast. we get alot of windswell in between the better sets of groundswell. to be honest, sometimes surfing 6 second period swells can be great, everyone gets a buttload of waves. actually, surfed Iluka few weeks ago and period was about...
