Sounds great- I’m both already over the hill and only competent enough for longboard waves.

Bores the shit out of me. It’s like watching repetitive gymnastics. ‘But there is an Australian in it, so we will only show snowboarding for 5 hours and then repeat it the next day. No one is interested in sports that don’t have australians’ Ch 7 executive (Yes am aware of their much better website)

Re: Coconut Spray; The Niugini Experience

SP lager is literally the worst i’ve tasted in the world (after 12 years in the navy, i’ve had a few shit beers). Go the export variety and make sure you drink it quick while it’s cold. When I was flying to PNG in the early 1990s, we would take off from Cairns and as soon as the seatbelt sign went ...

Friend of mine has a seaaxe, seems like a great board. Can’t believe how light it is though. She is a 66yr old who only started surfing 6 years ago, so that’s good for her .... But I’ve had a short (2 wave) surf on it and, based on that extensive experience (!) have recommended it to a few people lo...

I often wondered what happened to Keith because he had a lot to do with how I turned out as a person. there was an Industrial technology Teacher Keith Porter at St John Bosco College until around 2016 (having been there for 'over 25 years'); then he moved to be Industry Partnerships Manager at La S...

Yeah, when I push him in, it's fine. I reckon softboards probably aren't for bellyboarding and that's part of the problem.
Ah, if he is bellyboarding then perhaps it’s different-maybe he just needs a bodyboard?

Re: Best softboard to use to teach kids ???

My kids started getting into the 6' Grommy softboard I bought them last year. They were just riding on their stomachs. My daughter was doing fine, but my son couldn't not nose dive. I tried many techniques with him, but there's only so far back on a board you can lie before it's a tombstone. It has...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Worst was a bloke coming in. Gut sliding, which was sensible, until right near the shore, about 5m away from a 10yr old kid, tried to pop up in the whitewater and his board goes flying and spears the water about a metre from the kid. I made sure to keep at eye out after that. Generally it was bloke...

I was going to say. Like how do any of you manage to get out of bed in the mornings. "Oh God what are these shoe things with their unbearably complex 'laces'!" "Oh dear! I am likely to fall down the 'stairs'!"
Laces! Don't get me started.

Maybe look at Burnie or around that area.

Even in Tasmania they make jokes about Queenstown.

Ive only been to Brisbane twice. Once for work and once when my airplane blew up and I had to spend the night. Thats the closest I've been to Bribie.

Although when I lived in HK I knew a person called Breebie. Does that count?

Re: Watch recommendations

ISO 22810:2010 says that 50m watches are only suitable for ‘shallow’ water activities (although that includes swimming) and should not be used for activities involving high-velocity water or submersion below shallow depth; 100m is recommended for surfing So 50m is fine so long as you don’t duck dive...
