I am not suggesting to buy one but you can demo a firewire sweet potato for a test run before splashing any cash.
Find out what you like length and litres wise then order a refined version from a local shaper.
Then you just got to figuire out your preferred fins

Re: getting old, dont want struggle on a shorty
Fongy, I reckon two choices: 1) Keep yourself fit enough for it by either surfing most days of the week, or by supplementing with a surfing specific exercise program on the off-days. 2) Get yourself one of these modern planing hull / modernised high performance mini simmons style boards (e.g. MP Du...

Re: Mini Simmons
Definitely considering another one. I sold mine and went back to using the longboard for little days but am getting a little sick of that (especially lugging the f&*king thing around). I used to see a few in the water, but not so much recently, and haven't seen many for sale. I wonder how many are ...

Re: Board Design: waves, ability, style, etc.
I feel that my SE qld quiver is somewhat lacking! I have a custom pu hypto krypto (thruster) for chest high & above waves which are steep. A wide nosed quad which is my fish/groveller A mini simmons for when I feel like it (glassed on wooden keels) Finally a 2 + 1 which I haven't ridden in ages What...

Re: Mini Simmons
Time to resurrect a great thread! Well 12 months have passed, are you still stoked and riding your mini sims? Have you transitioned to quads or still with the wooden keels? Have you gone all modern and jumped on a tomo? Not a go to board for me but I still have mine (in an awesome Cuttlefish retro c...

Re: What board for small barrelling pointbreak?
My PU hypto krypto, bit of foam under the chest to assist getting in early and a nice pulled in tail for the steeper sections. Super fast board which makes sections with ease.
Having said that, a NPJ quartet would be equally as fine, beautiful boards.

Re: 2013 World Tour Predictions
With the introduction of a new rule allowing the SUP to be used in competition ... TC makes a comeback ... during the season he somehow manages to run over and maim all the other contenders. At the end of the year ... with his one good arm holding the ASP trophy ... Parko is wheeled up on stage ......

Re: 2013 World Tour Predictions
Good point Buzzy, my guess would be that pro surfing needed slater. When his heat is on they get more bums on seats or punters logged on to their webcast. There is no denying that The "big three" have controlled the tour for the last thirty years. By introducing "signature" products they effectively...

Re: 2013 World Tour Predictions
Of course this is subject to the amount of sales from Jon Jon's quiksilver products, the back up plan is to wheel out Dane Reynolds and see how many units he sells.

Re: 2013 World Tour Predictions
In 2013 Jon Jon signs for quiksilver and slater goes round one more time. Slater, Jon Jon & medina battle it out for the crown but slater takes it and retires. Parko doesn't sell enough product, this year is his Cinderella year much like occy in 99. He finishes 5th, taj and mick also lose their appe...

Re: Dark Pandemonium: Parko@Pipe.
ˆˆ I tell you. CJ at wonky pipe might be about the hardest heat Parko has all year. If he wins the title, he'll have earned every point of it just from that heat alone. For sure, then he"ll meet the other hobgood or sebass who has been in smoking form. Whoever wins today will def earn it and be a w...

Re: Dark Pandemonium: Parko@Pipe.
Given Pupo needs a 10, it looks like the pressure is back on Parko. He is against CJ in the next hour, could be tricky but he should do it.

Unfortunately, slater looks to have this heat in the bag after the first 2 minutes......good result for yadin nichol tho. I like it when medina loses just to see his father's expression.....horrible looking manloofy wrote:Slater on now... Could be Joel's moment
