Re: Geoff McCoy Surfboards Collectors Corner

Apparently there is a 'matt Tatum' who is authorised to shape mccoys (or iaw his designs) Ive seen a few places with 'nuggets'; which seems to have become a generic name for thst shape. Guess it's a kind of homage Yeah i see - http://www.fortytoes.com/ They seem to do some of the surfboard agency b...

Re: Geoff McCoy Surfboards Collectors Corner

It's odd that there's a US maker who used to have an association with Geoff but doesn't now, but still uses McCoy logos without Geoffs consent. That's what he's saying in that article. And even more so there are copiers who declare Geoff shaping to be quite average but his designs to be good enough...

Re: Modern Planing hulls

So i have ridden a few tomo boards. A psycho 5'0, 18, 2 1/4 twin fin, a richter, 5'2, 17 3/4, 2 1/4 and a v4 5'4, 19, 2 3/8. The first two were brilliant once on the wave, but good lord, paddling was hard work - not getting onto waves - but just moving about. The MPH design is weird like that. You c...

I'm drawn to the flame.
They're worth trying - just a different feel. That bottom really does find a great line in barreling waves.

Re: Midlengths

Yeah - it happened a few times over there. One of the best posts was a guy who uploaded a picture of McDowell's Restaurant in reference to American made McCoy's. I thought that summed it up nicely. When i realised how crazy people got over them (and i did receive some really crazy pm's). I just deci...

Re: Modern Planing hulls

I've not ridden one, but i'm intrigued by the design and have had a few other tomo's. Have you rang any shops for a demo? At that size - i think you could got hold of one. Natural Necessity in Gerringong (i know it's a good trip from Sydney) has one around that size to demo (from memory).

Thsnks CTD. Wondering why a Darren Rogers would be different to McCoy. Surely it wouldn't go down well with the supreme

from all accounts - thinner and more refined.

Re: Midlengths

i was involved in that debate - i had larry allison (fin shaper) try and light me up. My question was simple: if Geoff had nothing to do with the American Mccoy's since the late '80s and invented the nugget in mid '90s - how could Pautsch be shaping nuggets? It also got ugly when Mark (the former ow...

Re: Midlengths

Yes - not sure about the duo i rode. Very connected to the wave and definitely back footed. Certainly drivey - but ultimately not for where i surf. I think the duo requires good waves, with power and length. At the moment, i surf close to home (four kids and a wife who doesn't care for long surf mis...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

The wind was strong but really smoothed out the swell - man, some bombs were running into mystics on the dropping tide. So some incredible barrels with guys slotted really deep and plenty made it. I made none, but am happy to have my board intact. Swell has really dropped now. Went from well overhea...
