that 2-minute rip curl add with the grating music ... has to be the worst add i've ever seen. after 30-seconds i find myself shoving butter knives into my ears to make it stop.
what are curl thinking?

i'll be disappointed if no commentator during a heat on the big day says, "we'll get him when he gets back innnnnnnnnnnnn!"

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
my Xcels are all the most flexible and comfy suits i've had ... but they don't last more than a season before they're split to the shithouse.
Oneil and rip are the best suits out there, imo. warm & reliable. with a patagonia 4/3 for tassie winters

Re: The Coolangatta Gold 2019
Jbay it works on pumping swells. Not really ... points still have a limted take off zone - ie whoever's inside you has to fall off to give you a wave. Dbah and Pipe/ Backdoor are pretty big playing fields with multiple take off spots. that's why it works so well there and not many other spots. Mayb...

Re: The Coolangatta Gold 2019
Running two heats was pretty much a win. Although that format only translates to a few places on tour.
Dbah and pipe where 50-100 waves comes through every hour.

Re: The Coolangatta Gold 2019
From the camera view, Slater out surfed Wright and Crisanto. Judging is fcuking weird. Slater was definitely more creative – which is better on the eyes for us the spectator, criteria be damned. but his timing was all out and his execution poor. he was super unslater-like in his execution. all i wa...

Re: The Coolangatta Gold 2019
They haven't addressed the core issues with the format. Too many surfers. Meaningless round 1 heat (yet to see how this impacts the previously meaningless round 5 heat) Competition too long No incentive to go nuts on a wave and too much safety surfing. The same as it ever was. it's gruelling for th...

Re: The Coolangatta Gold 2019
i had it playing in the background yday while doing some work ... my limited observations : slater finally looks completely out of place – he caught the best wave of the heat. A long-walled right that just kept giving, and all he could manage was a cutback and two poorly balanced lip taps. no word o...
