Re: Just general surfing stuff

I believe CI here use surfblanks and rhino laminating ?

Correct me if needed.

But if that’s the case then I’ve got no qualms about quality.

That twinny I got about a year ago was using the above and had s-cloth. Light enough board and pretty damn tough for a PU.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Yep. I know you’re right. Without a doubt. But those overhead groundswell days, walled up and grinding hard down the line on the inside bowl. That daggy looking 80’s thruster of mine with the belly channels lights up like a fkn torch in those conditions. It feels unstoppable. I’ll be interested to h...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I wouldn’t get a CI for that reason. I’d get a locally made custom, something similar, and make sure it’s good materials. The peregrine is nice. It’s Like a blend of an Eighties thruster and modern HPS. That’s what appeals to me. i got a good mate on a Black and white, and he loves it. best board e...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Mid bank. Knee to waist high with a light cross onshore wind. Steep wedging little peaks that were fast and pockety. Surfed the twin fin. There were a couple of sections I had a heap of speed up and hit them as hard and steep as I could, causing the board to kind of Ollie out of the lip then land ba...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Mid arvo surf down south end. Chest high with not that much push to it. but still some fun wackable bowls all the same. Surfed the twinny. Stack of fun little waves coming through. The rights were the pick, but the left running back into the reef still allowed a hack off the top before kicking off t...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Today

"Fun size waves pushing into Maroubra with 3ft+ sets out of the east-northeast and peaky. The wind isn't ideal but conditions are worth a paddle, while Bondi is a complete choppy mess and smaller."

Tama looked fun. Too crowded though.
Didn’t consider travelling 10 mins further south for a kilometre long beach with a variety of peaks ?

Re: Pipe Masters 2017

it's nuts. like being sucked down into a black hole. total nightmare. how did he even get his rail to bite in, then maintain enough mental clarity to continue on.

Re: Pipe Masters 2017

Looks steep as fk. Nick - in say the 6-8 foot range - in terms of criticality- how does banzai pipe compare with redsands or cowries in SH ? Because that’s proper heebie jeebies surf. ha ha ha it's a complete other level. When it's being itself, Pipeline doesn't just pitch, it lurches and twists at...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

It does depend a lot where the rear fins are place tho', a lot are much nearer the rail than the stringer Totes. I’ve had both the flatter wider type boards with the fins out on the rail, and the rockered board with the mckee set up . I preferred the latter. But even still prefer the feel of a thru...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Good. That’s what I figured also. And as for quads, I’ve had my stint on them and over them. Warp speed for beating down sections but not as much turning and less accuracy with turns vs thruster
