Re: Just general surfing stuff

Of course it would be. Occy was doing turns better that in the 80’s on boards that were like boats compared to a pyzel phantom

Re: post your modern day sickness

Could also be the ... widest point being back from centre? That's definitely what it is. I'm not saying it won't work (what would I know) but it looks to me that I want the wide point pushed forward. Well that’d make more sense, unless you’re talking to Geoff McCoy I guess. *sigh* Though as long as...

Re: post your modern day sickness

Maybe. Could also be the spray or the widest point being back from centre? For $150 I was happy to take a punt. Pretty refined and light on volume. Gonna need some grunty waves to get it going. Will suit voodoo well I reckon.

Re: Lost Puddle Jumper

Yep. In point and reef surf. In any walled up peeling wave a single fin is my board of choice.

But have been mostly surfing beachies during the recent run of swell. Therefore on a thruster.

Re: Lost Puddle Jumper

I like flat rockers on a single fin. Then it makes sense. As you can maximise straight line glide speed, which is what singles are all about. On multifinned boards flatrockers seem counterintuitive. You’re trying to slingshot rail-to-rail laterally off the fins while the flattened rocker wants you t...

Re: Lost Puddle Jumper

Flat rockers mostly aren’t suited to east coast Australia waves. Avoid them.

Re: Ebay Bargains thread

Now this things a trip. Straight outta the 80’s. Complete with rail channels and six channel bottom. Glassed in fins of course. And a wide area round rail, McCoy nugget-ish that could be a control concern at size and speed. $200 Sydney. 7'10 x 21"1/8 x 3" Probably ok for a novelty paddle out a...

By the looks - Wouldn’t be taking it out in anything remotely solid or overhead. Fat faced walled up peelers up to about chest high looks it’s game. Or small windswells.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Steve. Aside from the extra edge with paddling, Wouldn’t the DS be a little too full volumed for the ments? Overall, theyre not slab waves where you need to get in early as possible, nor are they deep water bombie type waves that you’ve gotta hunt down over open water. Wouldn’t a finer outline and ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Yesterday margin but clean cronulla point. Some fun wackable bowls off first reef. Today garie beach - magic overhead peaks with decent punch. 6’3 80’s thruster again for the win.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Are you surfing the beachies or reefs at Newport nick ? well a bit of both, the peak is a reef that tails off into beachies, plus I sorta tend to roam off that into different lil sandbanks Must hit Newport again one day. How big does it need to be for the peak to start working? I’ve only surfed New...
