Re: Where did you surf today ?

The season shifted gears in a major fashion Friday night. Over a month of clean east swell, tahitian blue water and a certain kind of feeling that only the Coral Sea can provide : the feeling that this swell will last forever....don't know of any other sea that can dish up swells that last for weeks...

Re: 2008 -2009 surf/weather forecast

Excuse us for getting frothed up over one of the more bottleworthy fetches of recent times.
Hang on, where did I put my cynical, pre-senile hat.
Why rain on this parade Purri?

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Lennox Point.....6-8ft.......just before dark. Had the Aquabat in the van but thought nup, took a 7'0" pintail out. There was one kiwi bloke on the base of the point all shredded up from the rocks, 3 paddlers and one tow team. The jump off with a very square east swell was diablo. Surf felt mor...

Re: 2008 -2009 surf/weather forecast

jeezes, the Coral Sea is fcuking on fire at the moment. Endless swell.
Anyone with flexibility and half a brain should down tools immediately.
This is one we'll be talking about in 20 years time.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Ok......it was better than Money Trees, more predictable and more open.
Not as good as launching pad into Speedies though.
Seriously, these backbeaches under clean east swell events can get very Indo-esque, minus the zillas.
fcuk it was good.....I can't wait to call my brother and rub it in.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Tallows again. Frighteningly good 6ft+ lefts on a steadily building east swell. No-one out. No-one in the carpark except a couple of backpackers having brekkie. Craig had tried and failed to get out. Steve rocked up just as I was waxing up. Un-fcucking-believable. Were were all the goofy footers, th...

Re: Bombora - History of Australian Surfing

What a fcuking stoker. Total joy seeing Midget, Bob Pike, Scotty Dillon etc etc.(and not just the standard Nat Young redux) Jeeze, it illustrated with frightening contrast just how soft modern Sydney surfers have become. You couldn't imagine the latte sipping residents of today doing anything remote...

Re: Show us your....Pics! V2

To be honest teaching dino jr is the main reason i'm investigating the purchase of a mal for the first time, shit maybe even a SUP as the little one is getting bigger all the time. It scares me when you say something nice Dino......must be global warming or something. That veehickal in the vid is a...

Re: Show us your....Pics! V2

I told you about from an Indo trip a decade ago? Here's a counterpoint to remote Indo barrels. Tandem surfing knee high waves in the Richmond river. Koori families playing in the shorey, backpackers and SUP's.....so relaxing and satisfying sliding a few with my daughter on the front. Wonder if she'...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Tallows. On the back bank with a coupla blokes: Craig , banana farmer from Main Arm and Steve, a plant scientist who works up at the lighthouse. The odd, wally left, wind was swinging SW to S and blowing into it. Steve said "look at that" and in the gin clear water we watched a nice solid ...

TC Jasper.

Schizophrenic track but JTWC and BOM both think forward motion will slow and this puppy will do-ce-do round the Coral Sea.
Anyone remember Rewa?
I'm liking the look of Jasper.

Dora was the expert at fueling the "counter-culture" narrative For a bloke who never worked a day in his life Dora needed an act that paid. The legend of Dora, the acid intelligence and the need to find a host ensured a steady stream of benefactors beguiled by their vicarious need to live...
