If it's big Jet take a chance on Restuarants.

Sack up and go.

Just fall flat down the inside...it's s.h.a.l.l.o.w
Is the take off too steep for a single fin?

Re: Modern Planing hulls

I've been thinking about this. I reckon the best thing to do when exploring these boards for the first time is to keep the fins as neutral as possible. Give yourself time to sus out what the board itself is doing for your surfing. After that, then I reckon you'll be better placed to experiment with ...

Re: Modern Planing hulls

I've got the fcs2 large AM Pc (blue black and white). Which is what I ride in my normal shorty. I've just taken the centre fin out and put some AM medium rears (red and white) for my next surf. Honestly, for the waves I ride, I can't see the need for a quad but will try it anyway. The guy I bought t...

Re: Modern Planing hulls

I'll give it a crack on a small day and get back to you. My gut feel is that with the wide tail and efficient bottom shape, it'll go well in small stuff. But around here though I normally get on the midlength or longboard in waves that small, I'd rather spend the time learning to nose ride. Especial...

Outlook for cloudy is solid. I'll pick a small day so I don't kill myself.

Re: Midlengths

Massive fan of Devon Howard, ever since I came across the clip of him on that right hander on the orange 7'2 egg. I like him too but it's not remarkable surfing. Do you think? That's why I like it. From my perspective, he has a graceful smooth style that is achievable to almost any punter that can ...

Fiji - Denarau in August

I'm taking the family over to Denarau for a holiday. Staying at the Radisson. Although the focus of the holiday is not surfing, I'll be taking a board or two over with me to get away for a day with a mate. I've noticed on a few of the older threads that it seems to be pretty easy to get a trip out t...

Re: Midlengths

Those C buckets look tasty.

But if i was to get a new midlength I'd be going to a firewire seaxe next. 7'2 or 7'6. Would be a tough decision.

Re: Midlengths

One of the locals up here loves those zig fins.
He's a tech lover. Has a trace on his board. Reckons he uses his trace in combination with zig fins to dial in the exact fin setup when he gets new boards.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Looked at some Patagonia wet ties today in the city. Wow, they are expensive. Yeah, but it's made from mystical wetsuit sheep raised on 100% Stoke enriched organically grown grass grown high on a Peruvian mountain. And apparently work pretty good too I have a Patagonia wetsuit sheep, it's a 4/3 and...

I've read that some punters have had some success with a twin + 1 setup. I never would have thought a...

Sounds like not a huge adjustment either.
We'll see how things go on my next few surfs.
I can't surf tomorrow, and it looks like we're in for a bit of a flat spell from friday.
