Re: Fiji - Denarau in August

Stuart was running the boat the first time we went out. Really worked everything for the trip well. Even gave my son his board to surf Cloudbreak as the rental wasn't that high performance. weather is unpredictable I accept that. Stu did seem like a top end bloke, which is why I'm able to keep an o...

Re: Fiji - Denarau in August

They have 2 boats. They we both full. One poor chick was on a "site seeing" trip too. They ended up taking one of the boats back with the poor girl and her partner on it. The rest of us that were hoping for the wind to change stuck it out, but it was all for nothing. I'm trying my best to get them t...

Re: Fiji - Denarau in August

Got skunked. Got there on Sunday evening. Monday and tuesday was used to settle in and spend some time with the kids. Called the contact at Fijisurf I was given by a mate. When booking I told him we were flexible with days, but only had one day to spend away from the family etc. He advised that wedn...

Jordy at around the 40 - 46 second mark. Highline trim just in front of the pocket, standing parallel and caressing the face. Brilliant.
One of the best things I've seen this year full stop. All class.

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

I put those MR fins in my new shorty, didn't really like them. Stuck the Large AM thrusters back in. Worth a shot. Good news is, I've got a nice set of fins in the bucket. May need to save some dollars for a swallowtailed flyer twin. i'm wanting to experiment with a different technique and material...

Funny how the conversation gets distorted along the way, specially with the $$$.

Jet you can take your boardbag with you, I am taking 2 boards.

Packing tomorrow, flying Monday first thing.

Frothing hard

Re: Midlengths

They're pretty bloody good value for money those AQSS boards.

Had a chat with a bloke down the beach the other week who was on one of the Takayama scorpion copies. He was stoked with all aspects. Not bad for $399 new.

Re: Fiji - Denarau in August

I thought the exchange rate was much closer to 1:1 Me too. I see that kind of money as reasonable. Average daily wage is F$10 - 30 per day, there's room for a gigantic profit on F$250 for half a day; you could pay 50 fijians half their daily wage rate for the easiest job they are ever going to get ...

Re: Fiji - Denarau in August

Heading there next week from the 14th onwards for 6 days. Organised surf with Fiji Surf Co, 2 mornings. My brother did it 2 weeks ago and he mentioned they have 2 boats , one for less exposed options for beginners to Intermediate type waves if Cloudbreak is 6+ plus. The second boat will always go t...

Watch splinters on Netflix..it's about a surf comp over there for locals. Excellent doco. No one will watch it though.
I don't know what Netflix you have but it's not on the Aussie version.
YouTube has a full copy.

Re: Modern Planing hulls

Guy I know (very good surfer btw) surfs a sci fi now and then. Says it's very quick but too wide in the tail for anything except the tiny stuff. He prefers the Omni to the sci fi. I'll never get a scifi because of that. The evo is wide enough. And I dont really like surfing shortboards when it's th...
