It needs a nice mural. Wave parks in general seem strangely bereft of murals.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

He wants to make $$$$$ what else? He may have a cash flow shortage. Can't buy materials or pay wages. Not exactly a cash rich business. Low margins and god knows what else on the marketing budget. Just read a little bit. DHD have taken out a significant loan to invest in softboards. Hmm. Anyway las...

North NSW sharks. Can they come down to Victoria please?

Not happy with Ballina getting all the attention, Geelong council are trying to get someone chomped at Ocean Grove, by burying a whale on the beach. If you're not convinced this is a great idea - there's a petition: https://www.change.org/p/city-of-greater-geelong-remove-the-whale-carcass-from-colle...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Fickle and less renowned spot 4-5' Pretty inconsistent but with 6'+ bombs keeping the big crowd on their toes. Decided f*ck it I'll pick up some of the small ones on the inside. Got one that ran for ages and ended up well wide of the break, just as I was bemoaning the long paddle back a monster set ...

Re: Pinhead goes normal

Put AM 1s in front - huge improvement. Just as drivey but much looser. Same area as the old fins. I think the extra rake is the key, it moved the tips of the fronts and backs closer together, so when you put it on rail, the turning circle is shorter.

Back foot in tbe right spot?
Not sure, I did a couple of big swoopy carves without having to think about where my back foot was, but then I tried to stall for a close out barrel in the end section and got pulled up the face and pitched. Which made me think I should try smaller fronts.

Re: Pinhead goes normal

Had a bit of a dig on Wednesday. 3-4 ft Winki with the odd bomb. A bit of power but too straight and sectiony . Board paddles and catches waves really well, feels nice and flowey, wide sweet spot. Been riding a 5'7" fish the last year, need a bit more time to adjust. Might have gone a bit too big on...

Yeah they should be shot. Especially the 14 year olds.
But Nick - Jetski's!

Also they weren't shot, they were shot at. There's a difference.

Re: Localism has gone way too far!

There are a few breaks in NZ with access over Maori land. In the past if you approached the owners and asked for permission you'd be allowed to cross. However a lot of pakeha surfers didn't respect this arrangement and effectively trespassed without permission - which lead to problems at some breaks...

Re: Pinhead goes normal

Nice board. Is the table tallow wood too? Oil is not required unless they get seriously old. If you must....you have to cut it back with turps before applying any oil. I wouldn't though. No the table is Kauri. Was painted grey, looks to be from the 1950's. Mrs Pinhead got it from a Salvo's for $20.

Re: Pinhead goes normal

sweet looking stick. would go unreal with a fuller foil (not sure how foiled out this one is) and as a thruster around here on the points. looks really similar to my 5'11" I use as a step up. heaps of foam out to the rails for paddling, then all performance bottom curves & rocker. Yes I've hidden a...

I like the quad placement. What fins?
I'm trying big template fibreglass in front and something upright in the back to start off with. Fronts are PG7s and rears are cut down Slater 2.1 fronts.

Pinhead goes normal

I've been riding alt shapes and constructions over the last 10 years and felt I needed to get on something mainstream again so I made myself a "normal" board. 5'11" x 19 1/8" x 2.4" 29 ltrs. PU/PE designed in shape 3dx and cut on an APS 3000. Haven't used PE resin before and probably won't again - s...
