Been using Realsurf since '01 but didn't start posting until a few months ago as I had time on my hands due to not being able to surf (surfers ear op) and getting a job in a non draconian work environment that seems to tolerate some degree of personal internet usage. That and like the rest of the mo...

I would want to know how it was going to effect the rest of the beach in terms of sand flow. Not that Bondi is a series of hossegoresque peaks but if the reef meant that the rest of the beach was even less surfable then the crowd would be focussed on one peak which would be frickin ridiculous. Also ...

What about not surfing for a week. Do some other stuff like, go see some bands, chase women , read, go camping, mountainbiking, skating etc. Maybe you will start to miss surfing and find some spots of joy in average surf. I haven't surfed since september (surfers ear op) and I woulld kill to surf an...

If the average surfer wants a confronting yet educational reality check on where they fit into the whole food chain scenario I suggest doing what myself and 2 mates did and book a weekends coaching with Martin Dunn. In one swift session the realisation that you have a LOT to learn when it comes to r...

Kuta Reef, Bali in September '99 - amongst the pack of 35 or more people is a Japanese Boogie boarder wearing a steamer and swimming goggles. I'm not sure of his reasoning for either choice but he must have been absolutely cooking in the 25 degree water.

Interesting topic. I have had periods of fairly bleak thinking and moods at various points in my life. The precursors to these events can't be easily attributed to one thing and could be influenced by a variety of factors e.g.: alcohol, weather, work stress, drugs, relationships, family etc . The th...

I went to Europe in sept 97 with about 5000 pounds and proceeded to have a pretty sweet time for 5-6 months. I ended up hanging out in a small town in Portugal for 2 1/2 months. I certainly didn't do it cheap as I was travelling by myself but jeez I had fun surfing empty awesome waves all day , eati...

Anything extra that you can lose or get tangled in while surfing is not good. If i can lose ear plugs and occaisionally get tangled in my leggie then I can't see how surfing with an I pod will make the experience any better. Anyway I can't fit blu tack and ear buds in my ears at the same time.....
