Interesting take on the crowds, a matewas there again in March this year and reckoned the line up was almost deserted - maybe he was just lucky The first time we went (March 86 ) we thought it got so crowded we took a fishing boat to Bawa and Asu! - nothing much changes in almost 20 years! Except th...

A good pair of booties can take a lot of the aprehension out of the rock scramble especially in a Sydney winter. surfed a northern beaches reef almost daily or 9 years - one morning turned up at dawn its was too small, saw one solitary car parked, a dawn regular and dedicated rock hopper was walking...

Karlos is right about Sydney but it is/was (a few years ago) possible on the peninsula to get a wave to yourself almost if you were early and on to the right spot. I have a 4 klm stretch of back beach out the front door its a swell magnet. The banks change all the time and it varies between epic and...

Forget naming banks in photos, lets try and keep a tiny bit of mystery about waves. Its getting damn hard - as Larry noted the mobile phone is the worst culprit for attracting lazy crowds. I don't understand guys pulling up to an isolated break and wanting to text everyone they know to join them - w...

$900, that is some serious coin, wonder who shaped it easy answer ... if you have ever been to the 'superfactory' on the goldie where DHD, JS & Murray bourton are you will know that it was probably finished off by some 18 yo straight out of high school after the board came out of the machine .....

Much is unsaid and will remain - but I know this much - the father and son are so close? that the father choses to live in USA pursuing business interests with the energy he pursued barrells at OTW, his wife lives in south Africa - not a recipe for a happy family The sons friend and family friend of...

Doesnt take much to work the location out - the first 4 shots are dead giveaways to any one taking a drive north
As the next few showed in these rare conditions the beachies are even better around the old area...........

31 years on fibreglass (save for 12 months in the early days on a mat when my board was stolen and had to save up for another) started on a 6 ft x 20 inch s-deck by a bloke called sam egan (lukes dad). Now 30 years later back to almost the same dimensions but far more sophisticated design & mate...

6 channels

I surfed my 6'6' Laurie byrne this morning - only take it out when its clean and hollow. there is something special when the wave starts to suck and those channels generate a heap of drive under your feet. But pretty ordinary on the fat sections. Definetly much better with the H2s or those small TC ...

new fins

Not sure if you are referring to the early curved webber fins, or the H series - toed out, very up and down and foiled on both surfaces - they come in 3 sizes I have had the H series for 2 months and find them very fast and drivey from one turn to another - no loss of speed, they also hold a higher ...
