my everday board is a performance fish style - 19.75 In small waves width is your friend and i see no need to go retro to be wider than 19.5 A good shaper should have no issues using width if they understand what you are after. Take a look at some of those fat fish or compact discs from Walden or 7S...

Dont have an explanation but have seen it a few times in the last few years on the north coast. Always associated with a solid swell - saw it about 8ft deep at hastings point that time Parko and co lost the jetski on the rocks during a tow session

Here is another interesting take on creating flex in the tail. Seems CJ won a national title on the stealth design (the shapers kidding himself thinking he can successfully patent it!)

I have had the surftech TC plus 6 0 for almost 3 years, I keep trying other boards including some recent quads but keep coming back to it. can highly recommend it as a great everyday board. Paddles like a dream, almost as fast as a quad and by changing fins it can be as loose as you like or can hand...
