Re: Where did you surf today ?

How's Hatchie. Gets a decent surf in and spends most of his time trying to make me feel guilty about it. Good luck, Sport. Hope you enjoyed yourself.

Re: Ears

Plus we were talking to this old duck and her husband while we waited for the plane yesterday. She could talk the hinges off a door but every time her husband spoke he half whispered. I don't think anyone understood a word he said. There was another old guy travelling with them and he just went quie...

Re: Midlengths

Well this is of course because “midlengths” and minimals are interchangeable. A lot of good shapers have been punching out quality boards in that range for thirty years now.

Re: Midlengths

Yeah, I've checked their range out a few times. The thing is it's still a gamble. 99% sure they would work dependably however I know the Tolhurst Boards are a bit more refined. Experimentation is what it's all about as you know, Cranky. Also you tend to explore what one shaper is doing if it works f...

Re: Midlengths

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I've also been thinking of getting a Walden Mini Magic if I can get one cheap. 68 litres at 7'6". Why? Because I've been riding a softie.....like half the Fcuking surfing population at Bondi and a lot of popular places. May as well have the advantages plus some p...

Re: Midlengths

I have tended to agree about trad mal riding but agree with Thudster.....Harley carves. I've been riding an old Tolhurst Fish for a while that is pretty insanely good. Jumping on the equivalent old mal at Hanalei created a similar response. Incredibly fast and super responsive. I would argue a board...

Re: Midlengths

I’m warming to it. Maybe tomorrow. Think I might by a log this year and learn to nose ride. Anyone recommend one? The boards in the Rabbidge photos look like his Fat Boy Model. Definitely the one on the left. Used to own one. Unfortunately Thud he's not making mals anymore either I don't think. The...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Handed the mal back this arvo after two days of surfing out at Ala Moana. Two surfs a day. This arvo most of the push had departed. Definitely needed some volume but long rides when they connected.

We drove up to the North Shore but it was choppy and full on the high tide today.
