agree. Outside Corner is insane, bigger the better.
There were so few waves paddled into on that swell, and on just about every swell, as nearly everyone is under gunned.

9'x22"x3.5" would do it

Re: Sumba

25 July 2018 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UdDx4UGlJww Honestly, it looked much bigger and more critical if you were there. There were only 3 waves caught on the peak of the swell, and those were just before this one and just as big. Each time the rider pulled into a massive, massive tube, the screa...

Re: Sumba

I don't think Ulus is ever out of control size wise. It was perfection last year at 35'. There's a few good surfers who make the case for outside corner being a better option than gradjagan when it's really big

Re: Sumba

Duck for around 10 years, 82 to 92, Airport Lefts was my go to wave, I surfed it endlessly in all sorts of conditions. By 92 the crowds had slowly increased though and it was time to move on

Re: Sumba

Kuta reef is world class though. Last time I surfed it was about 8 years ago. I counted 70 surfers in the water as we motored by, so I said drop me at middles, pick me up in 2 hours, as there was only about 10 people there. The wind was really getting into middles though, so I paddled back down to ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

When I went to check the surf this morning there was a spectacular sunrise. There was a lot of a high striated cloud all luminous red and pink in the east, and north of that all the huge volcanoes were really clear from Agung right along Bali and into Java. There's about five of them all around 3000...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

I think he's almost playing the morality card. Good idea. Great whites are the unrepentant, non PC of the oceans. Not just anti social and next level racists (specists), they fcuking eat other species. This sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable. Everyone, including great whites, should be veg...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I checked ulus at dawn, head high sets, glassy and perfect. Went back got my board, down the steps, through the cave..... shit, the wind was on it. Back up the steps. Later, elsewhere, regular waist to head high sets, almost glassy, no-one else out, sunshine and blue water. After 15 weeks of not sur...

Did you do a turn?
No answer MS, it's like a void. You throw out the bait but they high tail it out of fear and your beautiful slimy mackerel bait is just left drifting on the ebb tide.
I start surfing again on Monday. I will be seriously thinking of doing a turn, maybe even a few.

Re: SPRING

I had one last year for a short while. It was really quick and easy to turn but so different to my other boards that it required too much adjustment time.

The V and the full length sharp edge rails made it really sensitive IMO

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Nick has spent the last 40 years preparing himself for something great. All this knowledge and enthusiasm must not be wasted. He should be ready by now to apply his skills and this knowledge to produce a book, or maybe a movie script, that dramatises the incredible history of surfing and surfers fr...
