Re: tell me what good surfing is

I was watching one of those free DVD's that come with ASL, it was from a few months ago and was mainly about a Maldives trip. Nearly every wave was a fin waft to reverse and while I'm impressed with the skill they take to pull one off, it frustrates me to watch them recover in the white water as the...

Re: Which fins?

Currently using plastic YU's but only because that's what came with the board. Probably looking at M-5's as I wouldn't mind a glass fin.

Which fins?

Ripped out my back fin, as well as one of the plugs, on the weekend thus necessitates the need for a new fin(s). Probably been done to death but as the search function now seems to be frocked, so which FCS fins work best and is there a noticeable difference between epoxy, glass or the plastic models?

Re: channels

I'm a massive fan of channels. My main board is a swallow tail six channel. I find I now have so much more speed on the wave than I had 5 years ago when I had mainly concaves. Only problem I find is that they do tend to track a bit when trying a radical change of direction however for my level of su...

Longinus, The posts about Rick Cameron are true. Thanks for offer but I don't need any promotion, this thread is enough. Reading through this, word for word, you find my posts to be the inapropriate ones. So Chocco, here's my guess. You're either a land camp owner or boat operator, or closely affil...

My identity is not what is important. Sure it is.... Not defending MF but your happy to post emails up from him and post up allegations yet you don't have the courage to stand behind your claims. Easy to do I guess. Kind of like offering to meet people at Mona Vale Retravision at 2pm (sorry KK) Are...

I've been reading this thread with a bit of interest and freely admit that I don't know nearly enough about the history of the area and development to make much comment. It's safe to say that Mentawifusion is either Rick or a close associate of his. But Dark Chocolate , who are you and what's your a...

Perservered in Perth surf for a couple of years on a board far too short, narrow and thin for my 80kg frame. I would have moments of magic amongst months of crap efforts. Finally a kind soul pointed out that with a board better suited to my abilities I would actually progress. Within 3 months of get...

What happens next...

At about 2mins 50 secs in this clip, Aamion Goodwin gets dropped in on and then cops a Pipe lip on the head. Words are spoken before the vid cuts out.... so what happens next?

the most shocking part about last night's episode was the bit in Tasmania with the forestry workers. A group of "blue collar, tattooed" (JWH's words, he left out the term "union members") applauding and shaking hands with JWH. Who would have thought that union members would be greeting a Liberal PM...

I always thought that one of the reasons surfing evolved to where it is now because people tried to surf like Occ. In the early 90's when tail slides were the next big thing for the 'nu-school', they were only sliding the tail because in their attempts to do the big hacks and cutties, they didn't ha...

For all of three weeks during the 90's, I had a Tommy Peterson Fireball Fish. The same model that Curren rode in the 10 - 12 foot barrels in Indo. It had a step, channels, wings and flyers. After giving that board a crack in a few different conditions I came to the following realisations: Tom Curren...

Nick do you know the stand up one im talking about? Late 80's - early 90's Pipe. The guy has longish sandy-blond hair. Pair of shorts. He is standing tall bottom turning around a huge section at Pipe. It is etched in my mind. Can't recall it specifically. Been a lot of great shots taken at the Pipe...

One of my all time favourites was a 5 fin Campbell Bros Bonzer (ex Mitch Thorson board I believe). Rode that thing for a couple of years in the early 90's until it literally fell apart. Worked well in nearly all waves. Love riding channel bottoms, almost to the exclusion of everything else. Tried lo...

Better than three barrels on one wave and only having to just stand there?

20 Best rides

Just found a link to a site documenting the 20 best rides of all time. I'd heard of many of these but only ever seen a few of them on vid.
