Re: Mentawais Vs Maldives

I went to the Maldives in 99 and stayed at Pasta Point but spent most of my time surfing Sultans & Honkys. Still rates up the best trip I have done however the crowds were non existent back then... 6 - 7 guys at overhead Sultans and similar levels at Honkys. Cola's used to get quite busy as well. A ...

Be interesting if Tasker can turn this around?
It's doubtful Loofy, but after a rip snorting  comeback like the one above, Tasker is probably hoping the mercy rule gets invoked soon.

Re: Why did I let this happen to me?

I'm 34, 6'2" and my weight fluctuates between 81kgs and 87kgs for reasons I'm yet to work out. I'm hitting the gym 5 days out of 7 doing either cardio, 30 laps of the pool or light weights with high reps on top of regular surfs, tennis etc. I'm aiming for a sub 80kg target but I think that will invo...

Your so badass. Comments from the supercoach! Tell us yet again how you dominated the North Shore again... Sturfin - next time you need to be creative to get the cops to attend. A group of anti social types are threatening people with deadly weapons, there will be 10 patrol cars there in a flash.

Re: If you could only have one surfboard, what would it be

6'8" channel bottom, I have a variety of boards floating around but for all conditions from 2 foot to 8 - 10 foot this would be the board. All of my choices have drawbacks ie too long, too short, conditions they can and can't handle. Couple this board with a 6 foot right hand point break and I'd be ...

On the latest Hawaii update on Coastalwatch, there is a shot of Garret Mac riding a 12 foot plus wooden board at Pipe. That yours Roy?

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Last two days have been earlies at Yallingup, getting ready to paddle out and there have been already 30 - 40 people out on all sorts of crafts... SUP's, mals, lids as well as shortboards. Very difficult grabbing one from the pack in the inconsistent 3 -4 footers. Back in Perth for a few days before...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Got out and walked up to Supers for a few, after three wipeouts from three waves left me deposited on the reef after each one, swallowed my pride and ignored the lids and headed back to the relative ease of the main Smiths reef. I hate Supertubes, especially on my backhand. The few surfs I've...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Back home in the south west for Christmas break and hitting the old faithful spots. Sunday morning was Three Bears, very busy in the water but some good ones to be had at Babies.. Sunday night was a reasonably uncrowded session in onshore Yallingup, probably only 3 foot (maybe 4 foot on the sets), h...

With Taj winning US$90k, Fanning US$50k and Parko US$50k, all with big sponsorships unlike Dan Ross, is there any news of any of those three donating to Pancho?

Re: Billabong Pipeline Masters

Slater on a 5'6", double stringered, concave deck.... I wonder if the rest of the crew will start to try out more experimental equipment now rather than their standard shorties. Or is just Slater on his "got nothing left to prove" trip?

Re: Billabong Pipeline Masters

I don't think he became a better surfer once he quit the tour, I think he just surfed better waves instead which made him look better. I remember when Slater, Herring etc came on the tour in the early 90's and his surfing began to look very slow compared to the younger guys. Remember the dream tour ...

Re: Billabong Pipeline Masters

[quote="steve shearer"] And Nick I'm interested in your ideas of possible psychological/mental scarring accruing from Parko's dismal performance when it really counted. You've seen the aftermath of this kind of thing before. Is there a precedent of someone losing a Title from such an advanced lead b...
