Sure makes me feel alive every morning, particulary when the roids are flaring or got another round of worms from the kids.

Re: Fiji 2014

Right now is a good example. The womens is on hold but no reasons is given why.

As a surfer (their main audience), the reason it is on hold is interesting and worth tuning in for. Whats happening with the swell, wind, tide, surfers expectations etc - this is large a large component of surfing.

Re: Fiji 2014

What ever happenned to GT and his interviews.

He used the term 'cream rinse' when someone didn't make it out the barrel. Thought that was a bit special.

Re: Hypto Krypto voted "board of the year"

So is the volume measurement of any value in the above example? If i never had a vanguard but my 5'8" hybrid felt about right, do go the 5'7" vangaurd based on volume?

If your looking for a paddle board for jaws, going the same volume might not be such a useful figure

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Does anyone know if C-Skins Australia are still operating and is the Byron store still open?

The website works but on-one ever answers the phone and the email addresses don't work.

Apologies for the crap question.

Good information on surfing technique, history, board design, pro surfing and all manner of other things surfing is pretty hard to come by so appreciate the thread immensely.

Re: Ask Carroll

Being a journalist, do you think footage of Schapelle boogie boarding with her new found freedom should form part the expected tv exclusive?
Also do you know if she has skills (boogie boarding)?

The drawcard wave an easy walk or paddle from accommodation. Ideally straight out the front and other options nearby. Cheap accomodation and good cheap food (this can mean camping in Aus) Not too crowded Relaxed local atmosphere away from any major populous Beautiful natural setting (although I am y...

Re: Ask Carroll

I get this overwhelming urge to either jump off or pull away. I remember reading somewhere that numerous returned US World War II pilots took up surfing as it was the only thing that gave them the same feeling. It went on to say that the term “mushy” was originally a pilot’s term that described a f...

Re: Ask Carroll

Do you consider long term surfers lean towards certain personality types, e.g. a Myers-Briggs type indicator? I ask because I wonder if personality type has any influence on why some surfers let it go moving into adulthood, while others continue surfing for life with a passion. ps enjoyed the book a...

Re: Chasing the dragon

I am like a smoker who never has his own packet. Always humbugging for the next one. But what if I had fully indulged in my earlier days. Would I be more satisfied now? A mate was recently out of the water for six months on doctors orders. He said he was actually happier cause he had no choice. Wasn...

Chasing the dragon

Do any of you feel like you are metaphorically ‘chasing the dragon’ with surfing? i.e. an addiction. Never quite satisfied, a surf only brings you back to normal or brings a slight lift - the rest of the time is spent waiting, planning and chasing down the next session/surf trip. A session providing...
