Re: R-TAK

Progress will grind to a bit of a halt whilst I frolic in the sand and water up the coast a bit. I'm not overly concerned about the volume as it falls well within what I consider my parameters + that 1/16", believe it or not, will add a fair bit. Someone can do the maths as I'm not adjusting the fil...

Re: The Real Surf Backyarderz ... who are you?

Theres something I find quite amusing about the idea of cosmetically impersonating reinforcement material. Have a look at these, M-F. http://www.coilsurf.com/page11/page11.html When you think you have 'em worked out let me know. Have had a couple in my hands and there is a fair bit of smoke 'n' mir...

That'll do.

Forgot about Inlayz, trouble with such things is they are fairly expensive, not saying it isn't justified though.

Hey CD, that 8 footer looks pretty darn good too, see if you can snaffle it from the depot.

Re: The Night Before

As suggested… just tape up and do directly onto the foam, then glass over normally. Seen it done a few times, but haven't done it myself as not a huge fan of pigment tints. Obvious advantage is not having to trim the lap. Thought that's what you'd say ... I have not played with pigments ... yet :ro...

I'll let him ride it first, then spirit it away…

Looks the shizz, JD, can't wait to hear what CD thinks.

Orange ones are faster though, everyone knows that

Re: The Real Surf Backyarderz ... who are you?

Wow, that's interesting stuff, S.

The hex pattern is what? Cosmetic or part of the function of the material?

Same board design you posted in the 'R-TAK' thread I take it? Looks like fun… for the young.

Re: R-TAK

Must say as my first experience with my own pre-shape I'm pretty happy. It's not perfect but then most blanks aren't. Hardest thing with 'puter vs doing by hand is trying to visualise where everything is going to fall and by how much… like just how thick is that rail really? Getting something to 100...

Re: The Real Surf Backyarderz ... who are you?

Ric - I will find out exactly the material - I wouldnt be surprised if its the same stuff the guys from Inlayz use, as it is very fine but improves impact resistence considerably http://www.inlayz.net/home/about/ bascially an efective, easier to use and more aestheticly pleasing alternative to carb...

No fixed address… the fairy dust can settle somewhere else.

I can see potential problems. Don't try, don't know.

It will be a protracted affair this build with xmas 'n' all.

Re: R-TAK

Some clues here, Ric http://www2.swaylocks.com/forums/new-build-cork-innegra-first-time-vac-bagging?page=2 Got another one with wood skins, 3+ years old and looking great. Huie mentioned some inconsistencies in the foam from blank to blank. If you've got a good one, they're unreal. I'll be a casual...

Re: R-TAK

Hey Ric I've got some boards made with Surfblanks Pink. Some have held up well, some have been brutalised. Might be worth a chat with Huie, he learnt a lot about how to get the best out of it from having a look under the hood of one of mine when it came back for some TLC. I've got his number if you...
