Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

Beerfan, I will get the Double Shot, for sure. I was thinking about the Sweet Spot as my second board. If I get one, or any similar to it, it will be after I got the DS. Natho, in a sense you are right. But the guy makes his owns designs. and it's not like he's advertising it or anything. I asked hi...

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

It's not that cheaper, but it will cost almost half of what an actual DHD would cost. First time trying this shaper, heard very good things about him.

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

Hey 8,

that's actually precisely what I'm doing. the guy knows the shapes, if I ask any DHD shape that's exactly the design I'll get, without the DHD logo.

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

Hatchnam, I checked the Mollusc, but the design doesn't appeal to me. Plus I can't find that model around these parts. As for the Vee in the nose, my buddy-x has that, I'm not really fond of it, not sure why... I just don't like how the board handles, although I did get used to it and have a lot of ...

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

no Mini Mals for me. I'm 31, been surfing shortboards for all my life. I just need to find the perfect balance between performance and paddle laziness. I don't surf everyday, but I surf as most as I can and do a lot of swimming and other exercise to stay fit. I just want some help for that wave entr...

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

yeah, I guess what I want to know the most by someone who surfed the Double Shot, is how far you can surf it. head high? slightly overhead? can it handle head high hollow waves?

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

Hey Jaytee, thanks. That's really reassuring. I will probably stick with Double Shot. But I will still want to replace my other board, why not get a board with a different feel, meant for slightly different waves (bigger, hollower, but like I said, no pipeline or puerto escondido)? I agree that a bo...

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

Andy2476, So you're familiar with the Chubby Chedda? I'm really thorn between the CC and the Double Shot. the only reason I started considering the Double Shot over the Chubby Chedda is because it seems the Double Shot is a champ paddler, plus it can be ridden as a quad and as a thruster. But how go...

Re: V. small wave grovellers

Fish are all about gliding... I'm not into that. Totally different experience. And as I already explaine on another topic, I'm focusing on DHDs because my local shaper works with their shapes.. he works with a few other brands, but nothing compared to DHD. All I'm asking is that someone analyzes the...

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

I got that. but to be honest I think I'm past being a beginner. I'm just another one of those guys that have been surfing for over a decade, but have trouble evolving... Main reason is because I live 1 hour away from the nearest break... so no surfing during the week. second, I live in Brazil, the l...

Re: V. small wave grovellers

Do you guys know the DHD Double Shot? Seems to be just what you guys are discussing... a high performance groveler. Look at the descriptions and dims: The double shot was created due to the increasing demand for a board that enables surfers to shred in smaller, sloppier conditions and have fun doing...

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

Not so much of a kook. I've been surfing for a while, but I struggle with my wave count. I've been ordering custom boards for a while now, I won't go back to getting used ones. I've been held back for so long because of bad equipment that wouldn't get me into waves. I learned surfing on regular HPSB...

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

I'm an intermediate surfer, probably on the low end of the scale. Working mostly on my cutbacks, and trying to figure out some snaps. I'm in that point when you just realized what's it all about, and you can actually figure out what areas you need to improve. I surf mostly waist high to slightly ove...

Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??

Hey guys, I got rid of 2 older boards and kept a versatile 6'1'' which has good paddle. I plan to get a small wave board for the easiest paddle possible on 1 to 4ft waves. As soon as I get this board and get a feel for it, I plan to sell my current 6'1'' which I think is a bit stiff, and get a board...

Re: Reef booties feel loose - any proven solutions?

I should mention that they're split toe.

I heard some people tuck their booties inside their wetsuits after they walk through the rocks... won't that hold me back somehow too? I'd rather not wear booties at all, but damn, I can't risk those sea urchins.

Reef booties feel loose - any proven solutions?

Hi guys, I bought a pair of reef booties a little over a year ago, when I was surfing Lowers (on the Rip Curl outlet). they only had one available size, which was one number bigger than what I wear. when I tried them dry, they seemed to fit perfectly... but when i went surfing, I realized that they ...

Re: getting stuck behind on take off

ok, I surfed some solid 8 footers this weekend, super hollow, many close outs... and I'm still a chicken shit. I did manage to take off just fine on a few waves, but most of the time I was paddling and then retreating at the sight of the hollow take off... by Sunday I started felling more confident,...

Re: getting stuck behind on take off

Thanks to everyone, I really appreciate the advice. :D I'm sure I can improve my technique to get over this, like Nick mentioned, but I'm also very convinced that 90% of the problem is related to me being a chicken s**t. I'm trying to absorb as much as I can from all of the comments, but I go...
