Re: Just general surfing stuff

The kit cost about a grand, local ones are much cheaper but you don't get all the stuff required, just the wood. Sikaflex for the frame cos you want it to flex. The rest is gluid up with waterproof pva. The gluing is time consuming, have a look at the thread links the Trev posted for all aspects of ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Wooden board "kits" are a joke. If you are expecting to build a board like an old airfix model Spitfire you will be left scratching your head even as you open the box. Mine was built from a "Grain" kit, based in Maine in the U.S.A., but supplied from the Oz distributor in the Illawarra. The box cont...

Re: snapper pro

There was maybe six folk who givva toss about the comp in my workplace, but i got em all interested when i mentioned the Banting was a former student who may just do good. When he beat Fanno i let em know at a staff meeting. Now they are all interested. Do you think they give a toss about alternativ...

Re: snapper pro

Just wondering......... DO YOu GUYs eVeR STOP darn WHINGING ?? Its the very nature of the realsurf glitterati to whinge, whine and complain, It's what makes them happy. They never have a solution that is even slightly viable, but they if they do its usually pointed at bagging out the Brazza surf co...

True, but I think it was more the chop on the face rather than the size.

Re: JS Revolution

Ok, so that earlier comment was a first impression. Yes its great in small waves and has speed to burn, but its uncontrollable in bumpy swell and chatters and skips all over the shop. Took it out in the current 4' swell and its pretty obvious its out of its depth at that size, or I am.

Re: Get this!

Iv had trouble with fin hum in the past, its usually the foil being asymmetric and the different pressure on each side is causing oscillations in the fin.

Interesting that nobody would be seen dead with that stance on a board these days yet is seems perfect for that era.

Re: The mongrel

The black Beauty is awesome, the unflinching stability and the ability to make steep drops in waves of consequence and it just loves them. I have done the best turns of my surfing life on that board, especially backside reos and roundhouses. If there is a better board for driving off the bottom and ...

Re: The mongrel

Hey beanie, I stained mongrel dog because it looked crap with all the different timbers involved, besides I'm always looking for something different, how many folks have a stained wooden board in their quiver? not many I'm guessing. PVC pipe is no good for the rail strip, it doesn't allow you to tar...

carbon2.jpg [Hi guys sorry I didn't past this stuff earlier. Here's a couple of pics of the finished 'Carbon Wood' as it's now called. I'v surfed it a few times recently and it is a cracker of a board, fast loose and fun as. And a bonus is that it is virtually indestructible, just the thing for sum...

Re: JS Revolution

Holy cow, if this JS dropped swallow is not the beez kneez, surely the best board i'v had. Easy to paddle catches waves well and goes like a dog shot up the clacker. I think this may take my surfing places its never been.
