Re: Fiji 2014

I was in Fiji the week before the Women's comp and spent pretty much the entire week out at Cloudbreak. We had 10 knots + of trades every day for the entire week and it never really got big enough for Restaurants so Cloudy was the only real surfable break. Sal was the first one there by a few days. ...

Re: Seeking suggestions for first surfari.

With that sort of budget I'd be ringing Tavarua or Namotu to see if they can slot you in any time during that timeframe. You're only looking at 3 grand or so for an all-inclusive week on Namotu including airfares. Pretty much the best place on earth for a surf trip, plus the fishing is all-time too ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Sure it's looking tasty and the banks around my neck of the woods are certainly primed for it but that's a big call.

What is it in particular about this swell event that's got you saying "best swell in years"??

Re: Legropes.

O and E for me. Got 3 of varying sizes on different boards and no issues with any of em. On the other hand, bought a couple of FCS ones on sale a couple of years back. Both of the fcukers lasted less than 6 months and both failed in the same place, where the cord attaches to the strap. No fin slices...

Re: Snapper riffing

Parko was coming out in defense of his world championship for the first time. This is a really tough gig. He handled it superbly throughout. HATED losing that final. Fanning wanted the win, that's what he was after, to set himself for the year, and he had it until KS got that 10. Which was a bit of...

Yeah that's kinda weird they didn't get out there. Bird in the hand and all that..

Modelling for soon to be Sandra is still all over the shop isn't it? Or are they counting on it delivering the goods already?

Re: The routine of a top pro.

Interesting to watch that and see how bad Parko is as a swimmer. 2.48 is probably a good time with such crappy technique. He's about as streamlined as a bulldozer. You'd think Wes could throw him a tip or two at least.

Re: Crowds in Fiji

Not Sure on the Coral Coast options but for the Manamucas it depends on the wind conditions a lot and swell size. You're early enough in the year that you won't get hammering trades all the time which tend to concentrate the crowds to the breaks that can handle the wind. Wilkes, Swimming Pools and T...

Re: September suggestions - not Indo

Fiji ticks most of your boxes for sure. Relatively cheap, really good for the kids, awesome kids clubs and babysitting etc. Flights are cheap at the moment after the cyclone. I just paid $589 return on Air Pacific. I've done two weeks a year for the last 6. Have a week with a few mates surfing on Na...

Follow them on Facebook if you're that way inclined. They just posted up a decent compilation of all the forecast tracks for Freda. They're all starting to come into alignment now too with all on board the recurve and track back west

Re: tc evan

Calling it as bad as Cyclone Kina in 93. This one looks like its going to track right down the Manamucas demolishing everything in sight. Tavarua and Namotu look like they'll get destroyed as it passes just to the west of them so they'll cop a direct hit from the eye wall. Forecasts are saying susta...

Re: Dark Pandemonium: Parko@Pipe.

Is Parko a legit world champ if he doesn't win at Pipe but Kelly falls over and hands him the Title?

Kelly has 3 wins

Mick 2

Taj 2

JJF 1

Parko 0

He needs the win or otherwise he gets an asterisk next to his title like CJ for mine.

Re: Help me buy a fishing kayak

Know a guy who is mad fisherman. Absolutely loves hi Hobie pedal thing. He's got a single, but they do come in doubles. Expensive http://www.hobiecat.com.au/kayaks/mirage/features/miragedrive.html My brother bought himself one of those last year. The pedal drive thing is quite amazing and can reall...

Top seeds were seeded into the round of 64. It's finished and they're halfway through the Rd32. Parko definitely isn't surfing it.

Seems strange to me to.....
