Re: Just general surfing stuff

I've watched quite a few paddle sessions down here at monster size. Agree with the crowd/kook factor, but you can't hang onto that much foam at that size. The talk in the line-up might have been interesting

In Warrnambool tonight. Nothing much yet. We so often get bigger swells that aren't hyped online

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Why is that, Nick? I'd have thought there still plenty of surfers around there amping whenever it gets bigger. Seems the ratio of chargers down here is much greater. Given the overall low number of surfers in comparison, it's weird I dunno swvic, there are small packs of crew who hunt larger surf w...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

Man's a master. 2nd post page 14. The original had timber fins Is yours the orange and white one? Looks exactly the same plan as this one. This is 5'9 1/2, 20 1/8, 2 7/16 made in 2002. Yes, that's it. My original was in 1980. Current is heaps of fun. Super fast right from go. Adds heaps of fun to s...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Yeah, the flashbombs are good. That's what I'll get if Torquay don't have oneill's. I believe they have reinstated the back zip as an option. Must have realised there's plenty of old farts like me and unco tards like shearer in the market Hope life is good, you bulked up eating machine Backzip all ...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

I was going to say. Like how do any of you manage to get out of bed in the mornings. "Oh God what are these shoe things with their unbearably complex 'laces'!" "Oh dear! I am likely to fall down the 'stairs'!" I was a bit like that after starting work here. My work boots were always elastic sided s...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Thanks, 'boo. Didn't get my steamer, but did order a short john and thermal vest. Combo deal was $200. $80 less than buying individually. Short john will turn my winter 3/2 into a 4.5/2. I'm hoping it works out ok. Even if it doesn't, as is will be ok for a couple of months when my knee comes good

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

I tried the 3/2 thing in winter through Vic. Went back to get a 4/3 for the following winter. Doesn't get you through the cold days when you sit and wait for extended periods. Yeah I know. Might mean very short surfs. I'll also have a hooded vest and booties. Trying to find a smooth skin hooded ves...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Yeah I know. Might mean very short surfs. I'll also have a hooded vest and booties. Trying to find a smooth skin hooded vest is proving extremely difficult. I know they're meant for under your wettie, but I reckon over is better. Any water leaking through the face doesn't then run straight down your...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Lost some weight, Grooter?

I'm the opposite, tempted to try getting through with a 3/2. Shoulder struggles to move 3 mm. Gotta be a back zip too. Exceedingly difficult to get out of a chest zip without help

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Slater still got barrelled when he dropped in on Parko. How good would Parko's have been if that didn't happen?
