Re: Cutbacks on a longboard

Roy after reading your quote in full I have to ask, are you David Icke and Geoff McCoy s love child??? Is the (surf) world controlled by three large reptillian alien families and is Kelly Slater really an alien put here to delude us and harvest our cash???? It makes sense....the five ...

Re: Cutbacks on a longboard

This thread is great, it is a wind up though isn't? Buzzy asks how to do a cutback and the thread mutates into Joel Tudor and Bonga Perkins can't longboard properly!!!!! You are kidding me! Buzzy if you want to know how to do a cutback watch One California Day some great logging in that flick appare...

Re: 2+1 Set Up's - NPJr

Hi, I have a 6 1 firewire el fuego which i only ride as a quad, as i like the shape would putting in a fin box successfully convert it into a two plus one? Is there more that i need to consider other than buying side fins, the box and center fin? I d get it done professionally, but was wondering if ...

Re: Firewire Sweet Potato?

Hi Damo

I have had my rapidfire for 4 months and had no problems. The deck has some compressions but nothing major. However, the other type are stronger. Guess I am light footed.

As for flex etc I dont know, all I know is that mine rocks and I dont over think it. :?

Re: Firewire Sweet Potato?

I think that these type of boards are so fun because they are stress free to ride......they are fun and easy.

The Sweet P has wicked concaves which helps give it a bit of performance as well.............you won't regret your purchase Damo just do a bit of creative accounting

Re: Firewire Sweet Potato?

Hi Damo, Just typed out a response and lost it, I am 5"10, 80KG, 40 years young and ride a 5''6 Sweet P.... and LOVE it. The EPS with balsa rails are more durable and probably worth the extra $ if your grom is likely to give it a beating. I have the bamboo deck version which is developing foo...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

WOW! Congrats Kookster, the Powerball looks a beautiful shape. Really looking forward to the ride report.... Love to know how quick and snappy it is, I would imagine being so short it will go well. I found McCoy's slow and predictable through snaps and turns but that was pre Zot when Geoff advised ev...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Cuttles could be onto something re: the large fins. I have a Sweet Potato and tried it with Stretch Futures and Controllers. Went heaps better with the Controllers which are a massive fin. With the wide/thick tail which is not disimiliar to a McCoy the Controllers give great drive and control..........

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Just read the entire post which i probably should've done before chimming in! Old Grom you must've got a few waves under your belt since you started this thread how is the Zot going? Do you have any new insights to share? if you're looking for a quad I think that you'd like the spud with big fins or...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Hear hear Cuttlefish! I couldn't agree more, back in the day when a new board was $400-500 one could afford to take a punt but now that boards are $700-1000+........ As you pointed out different materials, lengths, fin configuirations seriously complicate the decision making process. I remember when...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Hi Davros, Yeah could be a better comparison with a CI Biscuit. I think that these boards were inspired from Geoff McCoy's designs, I find the Zot, Spud and Biscuit aesthetically appealing on the eye. The difference is in the ride I guess, and this is a personal thing. I like the look of the Biscuit...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Wouldn't it be great to demo an Astron Zot? Everyone would then be able to form their own opinion instead of trawling web forums then shelling out $1,000 only to find out "this is not for me". :? Whether you agree with Firewire or not, you can demo a Sweet Potato and decide for yourself, there is no...
