Good point too.

Is July a school holiday period for kids in Oz?

The opposite for me as I'm in the UK! Good point though....

Bali - July or September?

Short and sweet question really! I have the opportunity to do either (but not both) for a couple of weeks later this year, either in July or September, down on the Bukit. I don't have the option of going anywhere else in Indo (or the world, for that matter). Been a very very long time since I spent ...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

So, I was actually going to sell the 5'10 zot that I recently picked up as I couldn't really afford to buy it in the first place, but I've subsequently given in to temptation and rode it for half an hour in some waisthigh beachbreak summertime mush.... That McCoy smoothness is there, for sure, and i...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Wish I could tell ya how it goes, but we are under the influence of the 'Azores High' here in northern Europe - a weather pattern that comes round every several years that means the temps rise and the Atlantic goes to sleep.... Everyone loves it as it's 27-28deg C every day, but it is F-L-A-T as a W...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

I'll ask again... Has anyone got any experience with Triple-X? Australian company. Sale price of $325 for the top-of-the-line steamer. Surely, if you're looking beyond the main players you'd consider a product from a local company. http://forum.realsurf.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13455 :?: Thanks bu...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

There's been a bit of talk about the restriction on Ripaquikbong sales to Oz from the UK. I'm guessing the Animal suits won't be affected in the same way, being a UK brand etc.. A friend of mine has a few of them now and really like them. Pretty good prices.... http://www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/anim...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

You had the Zot out in any onshore/bumpy stuff at all yet, Pete? I'm waiting for mine to be delivered (this Friday :-D-: ), but as we get a lot of onshore stuff here in the summer, I was wondering how the Zot would fare.... My old 6ft single allrounder used to buck me off a bit in the lumpy stuff....

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

I think a lot depends on size and thickness of suit as to whether you're gonna get a deal... A lot of the suits that sell out quick here in the UK are top-end 4/3s and 5/3s in medium/MT or large.... Being a UK surfer who normally wears a thick fullsuit, size large, I have to pick and choose... For e...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

60 million people in a geographic area a bit bigger than Queensland.... I wonder how many unit sales are actually made in the wetsuit market in the UK? Pretty much anyone that surfs or kitesurfs has to wear a suit regardless of the time of year. I would be amazed if the total surfing population was ...

Re: Single fin shortboards

So whats your verdict of 2+1 versus Bonzer for good and juicy waves (i.e. step-up)? Not grovel but waves you want control, good paddle, but not gun-worthy. Depending on the design, I prefer both the 2+1 and the bonzer setups over a standard thruster. I think it's probably personal preference more t...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Bought a BodyGlove suit for the first time years last winter, a Vapor 5/3 slantzip. Hands down, the warmest suit I have had in 25yrs, really impressed. Bit of a fiddle getting in and out, but worth it. Materials are really high end... Kinda freaky shiny spaceage rubber, really light and soft. Only d...
