Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I'd like it to be known I am NOT a good surfer. I can hold my own, but I would say I'm average at best (I make up for lack of ability with stupidity and wilingness to get pounded). I would be well down the order if not for the McCoys' ability to paddle in early and get around the chargers. Thing is,...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

I'm 38 and weigh 80kg. A quick wrap up of my McCoy journey. 6'0 Potbelly, great board and had it up to 8' in fatter swell but didn't handle drops well as the wide shoulders would catch and/or push away from the wave face 6'4 Nugget, cool for sliding, but bad tracking problem for my weight when any p...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Mark I didn't mean to single anyone out or say their way was doing anything "wrong". Perhaps I could have worded it better. What I was getting that McCoy has a singular focus, he reckons he knows what works and more importantly what doesn't work and he sticks to that. No-one could argue the bloke do...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Cavey I find the fact Geoff says "this is my flavour" totally refreshing. There are a thousand shapers out there with their own niche and good luck to them. Perhaps the reason most of them never get a decent following like Miller and McCoy is because they are changing their minds every other day. I ...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot

Cavey - I must say had my experience gone down a different road a lot earlier I may be raving about someone else's designs. It's not that McCoy is the best, it's that he's the best for my surfing. What clicked with me was what Geoff was saying in that Surfing World (?) article a couple of years ago ...

McCoy swap wanted

Howdy all

I have a 6'0 McCoy Stumpy Nugget thruster in excellent condition (18 months old), looking to swap for any other McCoys.

Re: correct paddling technique?

Nick just thought I'd let you know I tried your quick overview of paddling technique, less shoulder pain within 2 surfs and HEAPS less energy expended. Have now bought your book coz it sounds like a good read as well as the in-depth paddling info. Cheers
