Do you shape professionally Pirate? cheers! this one feels really good but i put a different rocker on it to my usual, so next one i'm going to do with my usual rocker for a better comparison. Re: Where did you surf today ?

Absolute opposite at northern end of Illawarra this am. Tide too high, fat and inconsequential. SP? If so, I checked their just after 7.30 this morning. It was doing the backwash thing. Some lefts still coming through, but looked like it was pinching off quick and flubbery. I kinda had the opposite...

Absolute opposite at northern end of Illawarra this am. Tide too high, fat and inconsequential. i checked one spot which matched your description and spot i ended up surfing was no more than 2km away as the bird flies and was peaky, clean and some barrels. granted i surfed the low tide, but by all ...

Re: Midlengths

Have trawled a fair bit of this thread, not much on pure longboard replacements. Looking for something for unshortboardable small days, but needs to be sub 7ft to stay in my car. I'm not interested in surfing it if it's over waist high. Want to be able to compete with longboarders on the get in ear...

Re: Midlengths

i'm tempted. fricken hate wax in summer. I was a bit surprised how good it was to not deal with wax. Doesn’t melt in the car if you surf before work in summer, doesn’t get on clothes or in your leg hair. Salty, yeah it’s not cheap. If the price came down I think many more people would get it Pirate...

Thinking about traction 1. Flat slater designs black 2. Flat slater designs grey 3. Versatraction 3/4 deck coverage 4. Wax Send your two bobs worth I had a board with versatraction for a while. It’s pretty good stuff. I would get it again for sure. No wax is brilliant, in the water and not getting ...

Re: Fin Construction

I can feel the difference between nylons and rtm, and can notice the weight difference between solid glass and rtm. But as far as all the carbon flex crap plastered all over them, cannot for the life of me feel the difference. I think it was huie, a while back, who said that the carbon was just a fa...

Fin Construction

Curious as to what fin constructions you all prefer, and the perceived value of adding the bells and whistles, and if anyone can feel the difference between plain rtm honeycomb fins, the ones with "carbon" patches (which I believe do sweet fa), bamboo cores. Using Shapers fins price points: Core-lit...

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards

I put those MR fins in my new shorty, didn't really like them. Stuck the Large AM thrusters back in. Worth a shot. Good news is, I've got a nice set of fins in the bucket. May need to save some dollars for a swallowtailed flyer twin. i'm wanting to experiment with a different technique and material...
