Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Mr Mik, Thanks for the offer. Measuring the rocker is a little bit of a process. You will need a ruler/tape measure and a long straight edge (ie. a piece of wood or dowel? a fishing rod? etc). Process as follows: 1) Find the mid-point of the board (at 3'7" on your 7''2"); 2) Place your straight edge...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Hi guys,
I'm looking to shape myself a McCoy 'tribute' out of an old blank that has been sitting here for a while - it is going to be a a 7'2" single fin Nugget.
Does anyone know how much tail rocker the Nuggets use? (or would anyone have a moment to run a ruler over their board?).

Re: Geoff McCoy Surfboards Collectors Corner
Thought I would throw up a quick pic of my newest (old) McCoy purchase. Its a 'mini-gun'. Dimensions are 6'8" x 19 1/2 x 2 5/8, so something a little closer to a normal board but undoubtedly a McCoy with the round rails, thick foil from nose to tail & big bum (all half the size of a standard nugget)...

Re: FCS Quads - What are you using ?
So, just a quick follow up on this one - I got my hand on a FCS 'V2' quad set for my board and stuck these in to replace the M5/GX combo the board came with. The guy in the shop seemed to think these are a refinement on the 2.1 Kelly's? The first thing I noticed was a quite a large reduction in padd...

Re: FCS Quads - What are you using ?
So, I'm reviving this thread from the dead... I have a wide-nosed, pin-tail type board that came with FCS 'glassflex' construction quad fins (M5's & GX's). I really like the balance with those fins, the trade between drive and turn works well for me and my style of surfing. Almost everyone....and I ...

Yep, that's the one. He (or possibly someone else) has opened up shop in the position next to Skate HQ - just trying to find a contact number for them.

'Surfer HQ' in Manly?
Hi guys, I am trying to find a contact for the store that used to be called 'surfer HQ' in Manly (funnily enough, next door to Skater HQ!).
I believe they recently closed and then re opened - don't suppose that anyone would know what the new shop is called, or even better, have a number for them?

Jet, if you like that sort of shape can you get your hands on a Scorpion to demo? I too have a 6'8" Scorpion after hearing Cuttlefish & Ric froth about them. It sounds very similar to your description of the Venom - it feels so much smaller than the size would suggest and is quite refined for a boar...

Natho - I'd hazard a guess and suggest that you are not the demographic that they are targeting with the Ando/skinny jean thing. Guaranteed that they would not be spending a cent on/with him if it wasn't returning a profit...

Son has finally decided he is keen to get out there a bit more, he lasted an hour last weekend in shorts, it's not that cold around Sydney yet, but the wind will be a factor soon. Anyone got any experiences with absolute bottom of the range steamers for 12 year old boys? He can't really stand up to...

Legion, you've almost word for word quoted an article in one of the current surf mags (Tracks? SL? who knows).

Re: EPS or ultra light longboard
Is it worth mentioning that the current longboard world champ uses an eps/composite board? (dare I mention the brand he rides...)
Certianly looks the go for 'high performance' longboarding.

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
It floats me the same as my Takayama 6'8" but I did miss quite a few waves simply because I was so used to sitting further out on the Takayama which has a concave under the nose which helps it plane earlier. So it's a great compliment to the quad as it puts you back squarely in the pocket. Cuttlefi...
