Hey mate Been there a few times. Like anywhere can be hit and miss but you should get ok waves most days. Dont expect world class but should still be better than sydney. I like your thinking mate but would only do it fishing light.
Iv had big gts towing a 19ft banana boat on 80lb gear. You can get suprisingly big gts fishing light.
